McDowell Mill Cemetery

Ted Roller, Jay Trace and Jack Fly were on the trail of this cemetery for a few days before they finally spotted it. It is located near where the old McDowell
Mill once stood.
They think that there are several graves there and that several members of the Larkin family are probably buried there. Below is an obit that we have posted for one person who was buried there and the 1880 census for her family. |

Obituary: Died at the home on Camp Bliss Hollow, on June 3, Mary E., wife of Joseph Larkin, at the age of 46 years, 8 months and 6 days. She was married in the state of Ohio at he age of 15 years to Joseph Larkin, who, with their ten children, survives her. Sister Larkin united with the Christian Church in October 1896, and has lived an exemplary Christian life.
Mrs. Larkin had been ailing for some months before her death and gave ample testimony to all that all was well with her. She was interred at the graveyard near the McDowell Mills, attended by a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends, Mrs. M. A. Hutchens conducting the funeral services.
