She graduated from Cassville High School at the age of 15 and attended S.M.S. in Springfield. After 2 years, of college she returned to Golden to begin her teaching career in l936. In 1940, she moved to California to marry Dennis Clements. In 1946, she and Dennis moved to Southwest City to open the E-Z-Way Market. After the break-up of their marriage, she became the sole proprietor of the grocery store. In 1952, she sold the business and moved to Neosho. She was employed at Tom's I.G.A. and during a conversation with a customer discovered she had the credentials to teach in the rural, 2 room county school district. She was hired to teach at Oak Grove in 1953 and began her pursuit of completing her Bachelor of Science Degree. After receiving her degree from S.M.S. in 1957, she was hired by Neosho Public Schools. She continued her pursuit of higher education to complete her masters of science degree from Pittsburgh State University, Pittsburgh, Kan., in 1964. On June 4, 1966, she married Rayburn Easley and moved to Rogers, Ark., and taught fourth grade at Westside School. She retired from teaching in 1985 after completing 35 years of helping to shape many young lives. She moved to East Lansing, Mich., in 2001, where she made her home until her death. On December 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marvin Elmore, who preceded her in death in 1979. Marvin and Margaret lived in California until 1956, and then moved back to the Horner Community to a slower pace of life. Margaret was a homemaker and also worked for Standard Mutual Insurance for several years. She taught pre-school age Sunday School for twenty some years and loved every minute of it. Farwell, age 23, married Dossie Sands, age 20, on Sept. 13, 1903 in Barry Co., MO. - Cassville Republican, Nov. 6, 1919 - Mrs. Dossie Farwell of this city died at the Springfield Hospital Sunday evening, November 2 where she had been taken for an operation, following an illness of ten days from an obstruction of the intestines, resulting from an adhesion which developed after an operation about fifteen months ago for appendicitis. A consultation of physicians was held Thursday and it was decided that an operation was necessary. Accompanied by her sister, Miss Ethel Sands, of St. Louis, a graduate nurse who had arrived a short time before to nurse Mrs. Farwell., and Dr. Wallis Smith of Springfield, she was taken to Springfield for an operation but on account of the floods along the Frisco did not reach the hospital until early Saturday morning. During the forenoon Saturday a slight operation for immediate relief was made. On account of her weakness no further operation was attempted. She passed away Sunday evening at 7 o'clock. Dossie Sands Farwell was a daughter of the late R. H. and Mrs. Frances Sands. She was born at Carthage Oct. 8, 1853. Her parents moved to the Horner locality southwest of this city in 1901 where she lived until she moved to Cassville about two years ago to put her daughter in school. She was married about 15 years ago to Charles Farwell of near this city. Mr. Farwell died about two years later. One daughter, Jewett, was born to them. She was a member of the Methodist Church, a teacher in the Sunday School and leaves a record of faithful consecrated service in her Master's cause. Her sudden and untimely death has brought grief to a large circle of friends by whom she was held tin highest esteem. She leaves a daughter, Jewett, fourteen years of age, mother, three sisters, Mrs. W. T. Bass of Sarcoxie, Mrs. Laura Horner, of near this city, Miss Ethel Sands of St. Louis and three brothers, Hubert, Otto, and Chester Sands. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Lawrence Orr, pastor of the M. E. Fox, formerly a citizen of Washburn, but for some time a business man of Markham, Okla., died Aug. 29, in a hospital in Oklahoma City, of peritonitis. Harve, as he was familiarly known in the Horner locality south of Cassville where he was born and reared, was 37 years old, and since locating at Markham when that town was started had become one of its prominent and enterprising business men. At the time of his death he was operating a general machine shop and had built a number of residences for rental purposes. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Markham and the funeral was conducted by that order. He left a widow and one child, Oreta, age 12 years. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Fox of Washburn, and a nephew of A. G. and E. L. Henbest, Mrs. Jas. John Fox was born in Monroe Co., Ky., in 1828, and was a son of late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fox who resided in this section for many years. He died at his home southeast of this city, Wednesday. He was as 82 years old and had never married. He has been living alone since his father and mother died and his neighbors have cared for him during his sickness. Tuesday a car of five Saginaw silos arrived for C. W. Edens, Monroe Skelton, J. C. Henry, Otto Sands of Cassville and W. T. Ayers of Eagle Rock. Alonzo Frost and son Frank, agents for the Saginaw silo in Barry County, have also sold Pat Martin, Brownlow Hopkins and S. M. Mitchell of Cassville, R. H. Elam of Eagle Rock, Blaine Summers and James Goodwin of Golden, silos within the past few weeks. A number of silos were built last year in Barry County and they proved to be a great value in saving feed. This may be another excellent season to get the most benefit from a silo. Funeral services for Frank Garrett, 56, of Washburn will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Williamson Chapel in the Valley at Cassville. Burial will be in the Horner Cemetery near Cassville under the direction of Williamson Chapel in the Valley. Mr. Garrett died at 10:50 a.m. Friday at the Cardwell Memorial Hospital in Stella where he had been a patient for two weeks. A retired farmer, Mr. Garrett had lived most of his life in Barry County. Survivors include his wife, Minnie; a son Billy Garrett of Cassville; two daughters, Mrs. Frankie Enfield of Lenexa, Kansas, and Mrs. Kathy Cook of Cassville; a brother, George Garrett of Aurora; and a sister Miss Eddie Garrett of Cassville. Following data given by Minnie Ray, wife of William Franklin: WILLIAM FRANKLIN GARRETT -Frank, as he was known, was a farmer and cattle man who operated a 545 acre farm near Rocky Comfort, Missouri. There he raised White Face Hereford and Black Angus cattle. He was a man respected by all his neighbors and served on the school board, took an active part in all school, church and community activities. Research Note: Possibly buried here. The obit says his remains were interred in the cemetery at Cassville No. 2. Researchers think that it must be Horner Cemetery that they are referring to. His father-in-law, Preston Matlock is buried here in Horner Cemetery. Son of Levi A, Gibson and Laura A. Talbot. - Cassville Republican, 1899 - Hard, hard indeed is the thought of parting with those with whom we have associated and have learned to love. Bidding farewell to loved ones carries a pang which only those who have experienced can know. John Gibson was born May 30, 1864, died September 22,1899, aged 35 years, 3 month 22 days. On February 24,1897, he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Maud Matlock, daughter of Preston Matlock (and Melinda "Linda" Baird). The same year they moved to West Plains Mo. ,where they have since resided. A few days before his illness began, he with his family arrived on a visit to Mrs. Gibson's parents. Shortly after their arrival, John was taken ill with typhoid fever, which resulted in his death three weeks later. A few hours before his death he gave his heart to Jesus and died rejoicing in a Saviour's love. He arranged matters for the welfare of his family, and was conscious until the last. He leaves a wife and two boys, a father, and other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. May the Lord comfort the wife and children in their sad trials realizing the He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
