WILLIAMS, Barbara Ann (MRAZEK) Dec. 13, 1934
St. Louis, MO
Oct. 23, 2010
Aurora Care Center,
Aurora,
Lawrence Co., MO
Research Note: She was the daughter of Lloyd and Mary Lou (Horras) Mrazek, who preceded her in death. A mother of two and then an independent woman working as a real estate agent by day and waitress by night, Barbara built a house on an acreage outside of Shell Knob, Missouri in partnership with her companion Darryl. In 1996, Barbara became involved with the Haven of the Ozarks Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping stray, abused and abandoned dogs and cats. Her dedication to the Haven dogs and cats inspired, and continues to inspire many people. Selflessness and compassion are words that fall short when it comes to describing that characteristic that drove Barbara to volunteer six days (sometimes seven) each week, through holidays, adverse weather, fatigue or illness. Stubbornness is the only word that comes close to capturing the toughness and unyielding resolve needed to work for so many years as a Haven volunteer. It is impossible to measure or understand the difference Barbara made to the hundreds of dogs and cats she cared for over the years. For many she was not only a care-taker and friend, but also a witness. The witnessing of so many lives and deaths is an act of love and a legacy that those who knew Barbara will be learning from and following for years to come. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 30, 2010, in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob, Missouri. Fohn Funeral Home
