Following his military service, he worked in the printing industry setting up commercial printing presses all over the U.S., before purchasing a gun shop from George Gunter in 1973 and moving his family to Monett. Research Note: Cassville, Barry Co., MO resident. He was the son of the late Hollis and May Schmohe. His wife was Brenda. Rodne was preceded in death by his parents. Following graduation from Fulton High School at Fulton, Missouri in May 1973, he joined the United States Navy, becoming an Aviation Machinist's Mate. He was a plankholder as a member of the crew of the United States Navy Aircraft Carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower when the ship was commission. He later became a Plane Captain for Grumman's C-1 Trader and C-2 greyhound aircraft. His duty stations were Naval Air Station (NAS) Memphis, Tennessee, NAS Pensacola, Florida, Norfolk Naval Station, Virginia, NAS Jacksonville, Florida, and NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. He served at sea in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Mediterranean regions aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and USS John F. Kennedy. HE retired from the US Navy as a Petty Officer First Class after 20 years of service. He was awarded the following: Naval Aircrew Wings, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist Badge, Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle "E" Award with 5 devices, National Defense Service Medal with 1 device, Good Conduct Medal with 4 devices, Navy Expeditionary Medal, and Sea Service Ribbon. Following retirement from the US Navy he relocated to Cassville, Missouri, where he was a truck driver and then later worked for Wal-mart. He spent his final years rebuilding trucks and automobiles to enter in many car shows throughout the region. On February 14, 1953 at Cross Lutheran Church in Burlington, Wisconsin she was united in marriage to Jerold Elroy "Jerry" Schoelzel who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one son, Justin "Dusty" Schoelzel. Joan grew up and received her education in Illinois and graduated from Rochester Agricultural High School in 1952. After their marriage she and Jerry made their home in Illinois until 1977 when they moved to Cassville. Joan worked at Sew It Seams and was a "master seamstress" who could sew anything and everything for family and friends. Later she worked at Wal-Mart as the manager in the fabric department, retiring from there in 2010. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cassville and over twenty years was a 4-H leader in Illinois. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Dec. 24, 2022 | Research Note: He was the son of Lauretta (Gartung) and Lee O. Sharp. Robert Sharp was the oldest of three sons raised in rural southwest Kansas during the Dust Bowl era. Bob (as he was called) was nearly always taller than every classmate, and at fourteen, he was the starting center in the first organized varsity basketball game he ever saw. Bob Sharp and Elva June Estes met in Dodge City, Kansas in 1952, and they were married there on April 11, 1954. Sweethearts every day of their lives, they celebrated 68 years of marriage just last spring. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956 and was stationed in Germany, the furthest he ever got from home. Bob and Elva June moved to a farm east of Monett with their two children in 1965 and have called the area home ever since. Elva June passed away in October, and Bob found it nearly intolerable to be apart from her. Bob Sharp was a building contractor in southwest Missouri, mostly in and around Aurora, and thousands of people owe the roofs over their heads to his consummate abilities. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1957 and attended Kansas State University where he received a business degree with a major in accounting. Don moved to Denver, Colorado in the spring of 1961 where he started his first job out of college with Touche Ross, one of the original "Big 8" accounting firms. From there he moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where he served as the Business Manager for Mesa College and later was a partner in the public accounting firm of Coe, Shore, and Lymon in the late1960's and early 1970's. Don, his wife Judy and their six children moved from Grand Junction to Naturita, Colorado where he was the chief accounting officer for Williams, Inc. When the local economy in western Colorado took a downward turn in the late 1970's, Don and his family went on vacation to Table Rock Lake in southwestern Missouri with his siblings and their families. He fell in love with the lake and the Ozark Mountains. Don and Judy and their family moved to Shell Knob, Missouri in the fall of 1979 where they have lived for the past 41 years. Don opened his local CPA office in Shell Knob where he lived and served the local community, later selling his practice to BRS CPAs where he continued working with clients through this year. Don was involved in several civic and charitable organizations in his lifetime and he loved working with people. He also served on the Governmental Accounting Committee for the state of Colorado where he helped develop the accounting guidelines for Junior Colleges statewide. For many years he was a member of Lions Club, Bridge House, Elks Club, and he was instrumental in setting up Lions Club in both Naturita and Shell Knob. He also introduced the Lions Club Youth Exchange program in Naturita, CO and again in Shell Knob, Mo. where they then hosted students from Japan, Finland, Italy, Germany, Venezuela and Brazil with many other families. The Shore family was also known for welcoming people into their home over the years who were facing hardship and they helped them turn their lives around. After graduating high school, she attended Blair Business College in Colorado Springs. Her life then led her to Ralls, Texas, where she attended Texas Tech and began raising two daughters. She returned to Delta for a short time, then moved to Grand Junction, CO, where she met the love of her life. They were united in marriage on May 19, 1967, blending their two young families. They then added 2 more children to expand the family to 8. In 1974, they moved to Naturita, CO where they lived on a small family farm growing food and raising livestock. Giving back to the community, specifically starting the Lioness Club, led to the beginning of multiple years of exchange students in their home, as well as providing the opportunity for youth in the community to travel abroad, including their own children. She also led fundraising to develop the local town park. The pull of the lake and Missouri resulted in the move to Shell Knob, MO in 1979 where she spent the remaining years of her life. Her passion for community led to her founding and leading the Lioness Club in Shell Knob. After starting the exchange student program, it expanded to co-chairing the Southwest Missouri program, bringing 50-60 teens from foreign countries into the area. During tax season she worked in Don's accounting office, taking on the needed administrative duties. They converted part of their home and opened it to others via a bed and breakfast, where they met lifelong friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Donald Shore, and her parents Ansel and Lota Gibbs. Sgt Shultz was a twenty year veteran of the USAF and a veteran of The Vietnam War. He was awarded the following awards: Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal with two Bronze loops, USAF Good Conduct Medal with three oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, United States Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served via permanent change of station and temporary duties in France, England, Germany, Guam, Greece, Turkey and India but visited many more nations, retiring from the Air Force in 1976. Following his time in the Air Force Sgt Shultz was employed by the FMC Machinery Corporation in San Jose, California for four years, the Pettebone Corporation in Irving, Texas for a year and then the Lockheed Martin Corporation in Fort Worth, Texas for eighteen years, retiring in 2002. On December 12, 1988 in Fort Worth, Texas he was united in marriage to Mary Louise (Curbo, Edmondson, Bucannan) who preceded him in death on April 20,2017. Research Note: She was the daughter of Jacob L. and Elizabeth (Harris) Stair. Frank and Frances Snyder were married on August 8, 1940, and moved to Monett from Aurora. With the exception of one brief interval during WW II when they worked together in an ammunition plant in Oklahoma, Frank and Frances Snyder lived most of their married life in Monett. In 1997, after both experienced health problems, they moved to St. Louis, to live with their daughter and son-in-law. During their 57 year residency in Monett, Frank and Frances delivered The Monett Times and Springfield News Leader for many years in Monett and surrounding area. Frank also served as a Monett police officer for many years and was employed by Rocketdyne in Neosho prior to working for the city. Frances was employed as a cashier at the old Moss Market and later completed 25 years of employment for EFCO. In addition, Frances was an accomplished singer winning several awards during her high school years. She continued her singing as a member of many community choirs including First Presbyterian Church in Monett where she and Frank were members for more than 50 years. Frances was also active in many community organizations and especially enjoyed her involvement with the Daughters of the American Revolution. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, just 11 days prior to her passing, and one brother and sister-in-law: John Lee and Beverly Ann Stair, formerly of Florida. He was deeply loved by his grandchildren, Angela (Brian) Risch, Stephanie Spohn, Andrew Spohn, Gina (Will) Branch, and John Verstraete. Jack was delighted by his great grandson, Frank Risch, and eagerly anticipated the birth of his namesake, Jack Branch, in August. Jack had an extensive and distinguished career in shoe manufacturing spanning over 45 years in Illinois, Wisconsin, Puerto Rico, Missouri, Dominican Republic and Mexico. In 1967 he joined Jumping-Jacks Shoe Corporation in Puerto Rico and Missouri in manufacturing and quality control. He was superintendent of the division's Marionville plant for many years. He completed his shoe career with management positions for Justin Boots in Cassville and Sarcoxie. He greeted many a friend and child with a warm smile at Wal-Mart until his retirement a few years ago. As a pancreatic cancer survivor, every day we had with Jack since 1978 has been a gift from God. Sue attended Southern Illinois University. She married Richard "Dick" Steele on December 19,1958. They have four children. After her children were older, she worked as a Para in the Shawnee Mission School District in Kansas. Sue went on to work for Families Together, advocating for people with disabilities in the state of Kansas. Sue also served on the Board of Directors for Community Living Opportunities now known as The Goodlife. After retiring, Sue and Dick moved to Table Rock Lake, building their home in Shell Knob, Missouri. In 2016, after the passing of her husband Dick, Sue moved to Shawnee, Kansas to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Sue spent her summers back at Table Rock Lake. Beverly was reared in Winfield, KS from age one until her marriage. Because her husband was in the Marine Corps she lived in Oceanside, CA, Norfolk, VA, Hawaii and Peculiar, MO where they settled and raised their children. August 30, 1980 she married John (Jack) Lawrence Sweeney III he preceded her in death May 3, 2002. Also preceding her were her parents and one sister Carol Louise Topper and one niece Cathleen Louise Watson. Jack and Beverly lived for five years in Baytown, TX before settling in Eagle Rock, MO. He was retired from Marsh Engineering in Monett, was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Monett. He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Alphia; two brothers: Gallen and Dayton Swearingen; and five sisters: Wilma Davis, Marge Reahl, Virginia Buntin, Mildred Garrett and Sharon Allen. Preceding him in death was his mother. Richard graduated from high school in Lodi, California and later attended Heald Institute of Technology in San Francisco receiving his BA in Horticulture. He was the executive chef of North Wester Restaurant in Gold Beach, Oregon. He was a data tech and wrote the first banking software, taught computer use to schools and instigated the school business relationships for students to get hands on experience before graduation. Richard and his wife had recently moved to Shell Knob from Klamath Falls, Oregon. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Research Note: Jenkins, Barry Co., MO resident. He was the son of Randle and Mary Ellen (Fare) Swofford. He met the love of his life and was united in marriage on October 5, 1984 to Wilma (Lee). Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Dale. Dennis grew up on the family farm, loved playing sports, excelling at basketball and baseball and received his early education at Jenkins School. He graduated from high school as an Aurora Houn Dawg. He then earned his bachelor's degree in Agriculture from the University of Missouri in Columbia. MIZ! He was a proud brother of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity, where he made lifelong friendships and memories. All of his life was spent farming, raising cattle, hogs, and dairy cattle as well as crops. For over thirty years he was Road Commissioner for the Jenkins Special Road District. Dennis also served on the Cassville FSA Board. He was an avid golfer and a long-standing member of the Cassville Golf Club. Research Note: Golden, Barry Co., MO resident. He was the son of Percy William and Victoria Marie (Hanson) Sybert. On May 22, 1993, in Wichita, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Nancy K. Graham. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack Jacobs. He grew up and received his education in Kansas City, Kansas and Independence, Missouri. He moved to Torrance, California, and started working with TWA and Western Airlines as a Customer Service Agent. Dick moved back to Kansas City, Kansas for a short time then on to Wichita, Kansas, where he continued to work as a Customer Service Agent for the airlines. In 1994, he took an early retirement from TWA and he and Nancy started traveling in their motor home to Texas for the winters. He was a mason and a member of the Elks Club in Mission, Texas and Holiday Island, Arkansas.
