Gary earned his Eagle Scout Award during his High School years, and was a member of the Mic O-Say Tribe. On April 3, 1976 he was united in marriage to Sharon Peterson, in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Caddell worked as a mechanical designer with engineering firms such as Henderson Engineers, of Lenexa, Kansas, Smith and Boucher, of Overland Park, Kansas, and most recently Benchmark Group of Rogers, Arkansas. In 2000, he moved his family to the lake in Shell Knob, where his family owned and operated the Green Cocoon Lakeside Cabins. The business was his pride and joy, working side by side with his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, one infant son, and his father in law, Farris Peterson. Following graduation from Whitehaven High School, she continued her education at Mississippi State, where she received her bachelor of science degree in geology. (A tiny geological feature in Yellowstone Park, "Ada's Sink," recognizes her work in mapping remote areas of the park.) She later earned a master's degree in marine biology. She moved to Shell Knob to make her home in 1999. Research Note: He was the son of Marion Elby and Ethel Roberta (Potter) Calton. After graduating from Verona High School he was inducted into the Army where he became a member of the Eight Air Force, 100th Bomb Group stationed in England. He took part in 27 bombing missions over Germany as a tail gunner on a B-17 bomber. At war's end, he was discharged and returned to his home, where he worked a short time with his father. In the fall of 1946, he enrolled at the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, now known as the University of Missouri at Rolla. While in college, he married Margaret "Peggy" Carey, on Christmas day, in 1947 at the Kings Prairie Methodist Church. After graduating college in 1950, with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Buck was employed with Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, Illinois. During his career at Caterpillar, he worked as a Research Engineer, Project Engineer, and Supervising Engineer. He was involved in materials research, material selection, failure analysis, welding, and he also spent some time in the Tire Development Department. He holds several patents in welding. After retiring from Caterpillar in 1980, he and Peggy moved back to Barry County. They purchased property near Washburn where they raised a few cattle, hogs, chickens, and kept a large garden and orchard. In 1991 they sold the property and moved to Cassville where they continued to raise a large garden and various fruit trees. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Calton, one half-brother, and two half-sisters. She grew up in New Jersey and following high school graduation she attended technical schools and obtained certification as a cosmetologist and nursing assistant. She went on vacation with two of her girlfriends to California and that's where she met Richard "Sarge" Carney. They were married February 14, 1945, in Denver, Colorado. She and her family lived in several locations in the United States as well as Guam, the Panama Canal, Turkey, and Spain. Following her husband's retirement from the U.S. Air Force the family moved to Cassville in June of 1965. Bunny and Sarge owned and operated the boat concession and ice house and later the laundromat, all at Roaring River State Park. She was very active in her community, volunteering with the Second Act Thrift Store and the United Methodist Church Food Pantry. She was a past president and current member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs Silver Leaf Benefit Club, and she was a member of the Seven Valleys Extension Club and the Irwin-Easley American Legion Post # 118 Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Adam Szymborski, Alexander Szymborski, Joseph Szymborski, John Szymborski, Stanley Szymborski, Charles Szymborski, and Henry Szymborski, and two sisters, Agnes Barrett and Helen Aleszczyk. Research Note: She was the daughter of William Addison Carney and Maud (Brooks) Carney. Betty Jean, known as "BJ," was the last surviving sibling of her generation. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Richard Carney and Bill Carney, her sister Kathleen Carney Reed, and her two half-sisters, Margaret Merkel and Nadine Cherry. BJ's beloved companion of many years, Maria, pre-deceased her in California. Her maternal grandparents were Margaret Roller Brooks and Professor Jonathan Brooks; her paternal grandparents were Henry Carney and Hannah Clark Carney. BJ was a pioneer in her own right: she was a shopkeeper at Star City; served in the US Marine Corps during WWII, and worked in the medical field as a radiologic technologist in California for many years. BJ requested a private scattering of ashes so she could simply become part of God's country, her beloved Ozarks: the hills, the woodland animals, the creeks, sunrise over the lake, raindrops glistening on a limestone outcrop, the pale dogwood blossoms of spring, and the bronzed oak leaves of fall. | White Funeral Home Phyllis Long |

Research Note: He was the son of Addison and Maude (Brooks) Carney. He graduated from Cassville High School and then enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941. While stationed in California he met Bernice "Bunny" Szymborski. They were married February 14, 1945, in Denver, Colorado. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2013 after 68 years of marriage. He was a lifetime military veteran reaching the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force at the time of his retirement in 1965. He was an accomplished tail gunner with over forty-five missions over Italy, Germany, and France. He was also part of the Ploesti air raids. Sarge served in several locations in the United States as well as Guam, the Panama Canal, Turkey, and Spain. Following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force he moved his family to Cassville in June of 1965. Sarge and Bunny owned and operated the boat concession, ice house, and the laundromat, at Roaring River State Park. He was an avid beekeeper and hunter for over 80 years. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Carney, his sister, Kathleen Reed, and his two half-sisters, Margaret Merkle and Nadine Cherry. Graveside services with full military honors will be performed by Whiteman Air Force Base at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Research Note: He was the son of Walter and Myrtle (Reeves) Casey. In 1945 the family moved to Auburn, Nebraska. Rich attended school in Auburn and graduated in 1955. In 1956 he married Mary Lou Kermoade and to this union were born four children. The couple later divorced. Rich was an active business member in Auburn. Starting as owner of a Standard Oil Station and then on to a Sears Merchant Store that he owned for many years. He was on the volunteer fire department and a member of the Presbyterian Church. He also was in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1962. On July 2, 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Lila May Adams. After their marriage he and Lila resided in Aurora, Missouri, moving to Shell Knob in 1985 to make their home. Rich was a painting contractor and enjoyed meeting new people as he painted their homes. Research Note: He was the son of Claude Everett and Pearl (Courtright) Clancy. After graduating from high school Roland enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for 20 years before retiring. He was united in marriage to Marlene Hall on June 17, 1950, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They settled down on a farm in Appleton, Arkansas where they raised cattle and pigs. Upon retirement he became a stay at home dad to his six children. He was a zealous minister with the Church of Christ and loved to visit with people making sure they were right with God. He spent much of his time working closely with Hospice groups and nursing homes assisting the elderly and infirmed. He greeted new residents, stopping by weekly to assist with anything they might need. Mr. Clancy volunteered his time to take them to appointments whenever they need transportation. In 1990 they spent 10 years as RV sojourner's traveling the states assisting churches. They settled in Mount Ida, Arkansas and in 2008 relocated to Cassville and became active in the Church of Christ in Washburn. Dale loved to tell jokes, and was very outgoing and willing to help whenever he could. In later years, Dale and Evelyn retired to their farm in Hume, MO. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Clark of Hume; 2 sons; and 2 daughters. He is also survived by a sister and her 2 children. He also leaves behind multiple grandchildren. Larry was a Vietnam War Veteran, Sergeant E5, serving in the United States Army, 1967-1969. He enjoyed a successful career in manufacturing as a consultant for spindle sales and repair, continuing the work he so loved right up to the time of his death. He was also an Amway consultant for 10 years, traveling the country. A true sports lover, Larry coached American Legion Baseball in Torrington, CT. Larry will always be remembered by all who knew him as a wise, kind, and generous man devoted to his family and dedicated to his Church, St Edith Stein, Our Lady of Fatima and Divine Mercy in Katy, TX as well as St Edward Church in Cassville, MO. Research Note: He was the son of Lester and Vermelle Myrek Cooper who preceded him in death. He grew up among many relatives there. He went to school through the 8th grade in nearby Hattiesburg, MS. In 1942 as WWII broke out, 17 year old Jesse joined the Navy. He was in the aviation unit serving with the weather patrol. During that time, He met Nellie Ludwick, the prettiest girl he'd ever seen. They were married October 19, 1945. Jesse worked as a welder/mechanic for several companies in Denver and Purdy, MO. In the Navy, he had also worked as a welder on ships and took those skills with him. Jesse and Nellie had three children. During their moves between Missouri and Colorado, they always managed to live near family. It was very important to Jesse. When he retired, Jesse and Nellie moved back to Purdy for good. He became active in the community, serving as mayor from May of 1989 to April of 1991. He was a member of the Lions Club, becoming Zone Chairman in Missouri and Mississippi in 1990 and 1991. Sadly, Nellie passed away during this time. Jesse became an avid Model A Ford collector. He restored over 25 cars in various stages of deterioration. He often helped other Model A owners with repairs and earned a reputation as a skilled and knowledgeable craftsman. Jesse met his dear, long-time friend, Mary Adams, who was also interested in the cars. They owned some of the Model A's together and went on a number of cross-country tours with their car clubs. Jesse was the president of the Springfield Model A Car Club for several years. They were also active in the Fairview Car Club. Jesse married another long-time friend, Jacqueline Rose McCord Hancock, on June 24, 2015. Their relationship was quiet and gentle as he became more and more homebound. Rose took loving care of Jesse until he died on March 9, 2018, at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his daughter Sandra, brother Bill, and sister Hestle. He will be laid to rest with Nellie in Ft. Research Note: He was the youngest of six children of Leopold (Paul) and Blanch (Halla) Coufal. Lee attended elementary school in Cotesfield, Nebraska. He graduated from Scotia Consolidated High School in Scotia, Nebraska, in 1950. He enlisted in the Air Force and became a Military Policeman. When his brother, Ralph, was killed in Korea in 1951, he received an Honorable Discharge to be with his parents and help with farming. Several years later he was drafted by the Army. He was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne and was honorably discharged in 1955. On June 24, 1955, he married JoAnne LaRose Meyer at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia, Nebraska. In 1959, Lee received his Bachelor's degree with an Industrial Arts major from Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, Nebraska. He taught industrial arts and was football, basketball, track, and girl's volleyball coach in Gresham, Nebraska. In 1963, Lee was awarded a graduate assistantship for 1963-64 at Kearney State College (formerly NSTC). He taught some industrial arts classes and worked on his Master's Degree. He received his Master's in 1970. After teaching industrial arts and serving as head football coach in Hoxie, Kansas, Lee and his family moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1965 where he taught industrial arts and was football and basketball coach at Mason Junior H.S. He later became an assistant coach and automotive technology teacher at Mt. Tahoma H.S. In 1974, he received his secondary school administrative credentials from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. They moved to their beach property on Case Inlet, Lakebay, Washington in 1979. He retired in 1984 due to health issues and assumed many of the daily household responsibilities while JoAnne continued working outside the home. JoAnne retired in 1993 and they traveled to Arizona in their motor home to spend the winters. In 2003, they moved to Monett, Missouri, to be near their daughter and son-in-law and continued spending a number of winters in Arizona and Texas. In 2019, they moved to Oak Pointe Assisted Living in Monett. Preceding him in death were his brother, Joseph; his sisters, Verna Beck (Willis), Blanche Hermsmeyer (Wesley), Margery Conwell (Louis); his brother, Ralph; and his infant great-grandson, William Martin White. In 1977 he left the fire department and moved to Harvey, Louisiana where on April 30, 1983, he married Carol Ronsonette. In 1991 they moved to Carpentersville, Illinois where Ronald began serving as Fire Chief with the Carpentersville-Countryside Fire Department. Ronald and his wife Carol moved to Eagle Rock in 1997 after Ronald retired from his job as Fire Chief in Carpentersville, Illinois. In 1998 they became volunteers for the Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Department. In 1999 Ronald became the Fire Chief and strived to improve the department and the training of the volunteers. Today the department is one of the best-equipped and well trained departments anywhere. He was also instrumental in bring 911 into Barry County and in creating the Barry County Fire Chiefs Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ricky Creek, one daughter, Cindy Creek; three grandchildren, Billy, Amber, and Ricky Jr., Creek; two brothers and one sister. Research Note: He was the son of Florenz "Jack" and Charlotte (Milner) Criqui. He was united in marriage to Ruth Elaine Flanders, who preceded him in death in 1983. Mr. Criqui subsequently married MaryAnn Compton on February 4, 1984; she preceded him in death on July 21, 2018. Mr. Criqui volunteered to serve his country at the age of 17 during WWII. He was sent to the European Theater as a member of the 300th Combat Engineers. After surviving the London Blitz, he was was sent to Isigny, France to build floating and Bailey bridges. Due to his ability to type, he was promoted to Supply Sargent, where he became quite popular. He liked to tell a story about taking inventory and noticing a massive crane was missing. It was found in a nearby village where a gentleman insisted he had purchased it from a soldier for $10 and a pack of cigarettes. After the war, Mr. Criqui returned home and was the first in his family to attend college. He loved the sciences, especially biology and botany. Upon graduation, he was employed by the Department of Fish and Game to map the lakes and rivers of Yosemite National Park. This huge task was done solely on horseback and took several months of living in the wild. Mr. Criqui met his future wife, Ruth, while attending college. Mr. Criqui was recruited by NASA during the 1960's to work as a scientist for the U.S. during the "space race" with the Soviets. The government sent him to graduate school in chemistry, and Mr. Criqui's love of the sciences was expanded beyond the life sciences. He achieved graduate degrees in both biology and chemistry. Mr. Criqui worked as a college administrator at the College of the Siskiyous and as a chemistry professor and administrator at Chabot College, both in California. He settled in Cassville in 2011 where he enjoyed reading, genealogy, traveling the world and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy Dold and Tina Brumley; and one sister, Lois Howard. Research Note: He was the son of V.V. and Marie (Woolsey) Crowe. On November 12, 1967 he was united in marriage to Anne Koon. Jerry grew up in Cassville where he graduated from high school in 1954. Jerry served his country in both the Navy and the Air Force. During his Navy enlistment he was part of the Maiden Voyage on the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal. After his military service Jerry returned to Cassville and went into the restaurant business with his mother "Ma Crowe". He also owned and operated restaurants in Shell Knob, Neosho and Springfield and was active in the Missouri and National restaurant associations. Jerry got his private pilot's license, co-owning a plane that he used for both business and personal travel. After the restaurant ownership ended, Jerry began his Chef career at resorts in Scottsdale, Arizona. Then on to the island of Kauai, Hawaii, Pohnpei, Eastern Caroline Islands and Saipan Northern Marianas Islands. While in Saipan he built the first wooden house on the island and started his woodturning adventures. Jerry and Anne returned to Barry County in 1988 settling on the family farm. They opened and operated De Ole Garage Antique Mall with Duane and Jan Truman in the former Blalack-Koon Chevrolet dealership building. Jerry ventured into Emu farming as well as opening Crowe's Good Eats Café at Hilltop. Later he turned to woodturning full time, showing at Fine Art Shows from Minnesota to Key West. Jerry was Co-Founder of the Stateline Woodturners Club where he also served as the Club's first VP. He was active in club events and mentored many aspiring woodturners to help them grow their skills. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Rena Scott and Zella Junkin. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. He switched gears mid-life, and worked at Gibson Printing for 8 years, and was very active in both St. Peters and St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, where he was an ambassador and founder of a group that mentored young professionals. He was a guest harmonica player at many Chamber events. His career wrapped up working at Community News. Randy was united in marriage to Wanda Moore, and together they raised 3 children. Following high school, he entered the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War at the navel academy in Annapolis, MD as an ET3. David continued his education following his honorable discharge from the service at Iowa State University in Ames. He graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. David worked in Cedar Rapids for Rockwell Collins Radio as an electrical engineer. He held two patents and worked on the Gemini Space Program. In 1976, David and Dorothy moved to Exeter, MO from Cedar Rapids to make their home. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Exeter. His body has been cremated under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy DeGraffenreid; and brothers Ron and Terry DeGraffenreid. He was born July 1, 1944 in St. Louis, MO and grew up on the farm in Bolivar, MO where he graduated high school in 1962. He married Donna, the love his life, on Oct 4, 1964. He attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, on a Basketball Scholarship, where he earned a Bachelor of Education degree. He later earned a Master of Education degree from Drury College, Springfield, MO. He was a basketball coach and taught both History and Driver's Education for numerous schools while living in Bolivar. He ended his career in education as Assistant Principal at Camdenton High School while living in rural Camdenton, MO. He made a career change in 1983, moving to Monett, MO as an agent for Shelter Insurance for the next 31 years. He and Donna spent their retirement years splitting time between Monett and a home in South Texas where they enjoyed many close friendships and almost daily golfing. He was a very accomplished High School and College athlete and was inducted, along with his brothers, into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame on Nov 2, 2011. He played softball well into his 30s when he switched his passion to golf, which he played for the rest of his life. In the earlier years of his life, he also loved boating and fishing (including many fishing trips with his dad and brothers), waterskiing, hanging out with family; more recently he enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with his wife and kids, and took immense pride in caring for his yard and 20 acres. He got a big kick out of teaching his son-in-law to "talk like a country boy." He was incredibly happy to have his daughter and son-in-law living next door for the last few years of his life. Research Note: He was diagnosed with cancer on June 3, 2017. Unfortunately, the cancer was aggressive and spread rapidly, causing Clayton to lose his battle to cancer at the age of 69. He was born in Arlington, Oregon on February 9, 1948 and moved to Missouri at the age of 3. Clayton attended both Mineral Springs and Cassville schools. He was united in marriage on June 11, 1966 to Betty Ann Taylor. Proceeding Clayton in death was one brother; Joe Allen Dotson, one child; Clayton Russell Dotson, his father; James Melburn Dotson (Jim), one grandchild; Khody James Dotson, his mother; Erma Laverne (Dotson) (Moreland), and his stepfather; William George Moreland (Bill). Clayton had only a small handful of careers within his lifetime, with EFCO Corporation being his primary career. Research Note: He was the son of Frank Stewart and Clara Jane (Price) Dudley. On June 23, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Guinevere A. Barnes. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Loren D. Dudley and one sister, Wanda Patterson. Chet, as most people knew him, grew up in Iowa and graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids. He was hired by Cryovac as a plant supervisor in 1955. Cryovac was a division of W.R. Grace Company. He joined the sales force in 1959, serving the company for a total of thirty-five years. In 1976, he was transferred to Shell Knob from Omaha, Nebraska. He traveled nationwide with his company for seven of his thirty-five years of service and retired in September, 1990. In Cedar Rapids, Chester was very active in the Boy Scouts and was Scout Master and Explorer Advisor. He was a member of Faith Christian Church in Omaha and served as chairman of the board; member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine as well. Also in Omaha, he served on the original Board of Directors at Oak Hills County Club. In Shell Knob, Chester was instrumental in forming Quiet Cove Homeowners Association and served as president for over twenty years. Senator Emory Melton recommended Chester to serve as Safe Drinking Water commissioner and he was appointed by Governor John Ashcroft. He served twelve years. Chet was a member of the Cassville Golf Club and enjoyed taking $10.00 wagers from other members from time to time and was the announcer for the Homer Sloan Bass Tournament for over twenty years.
