ISLEY, Viola (WILSON) (BLANKENSHIP) (CHANEY) Nov. 27, 1924
Johnson City, NY
Oct. 28, 2017
MO
SSW: Harvey - Research Note: She was the daughter of Reverend Leon and Hattie Mae Wilson. She was survived by her husband Carl Chaney of 19 years, and four children, and 5 Step-children. Viola (Vi) was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey Isley (June 6, 1967), Stanley Blankenship (August 4, 1991). One brother, three sisters, one son (Joe Isley) one Grandson (Jim Isley), two great granddaughters, Brett and Shelby Paul and one step-grandson (Josh Chaney). Viola (Vi) Chaney worked as a cook for the Horner School until its closing, at that time she worked at Jumping Jack Shoe Factory in Cassville, until her retirement. Viola (Vi) at that time assisted her husband Stanley on the farm, feeding cattle, raising chickens, taking care of her grandchildren. Viola (Vi's) main objective in life was to be a good wife, mother, and great grandmother. With her passing, she leaves behind a legacy of memories that will never be forgotten by any of her family. For many years, the extended family enjoyed Sunday dinners of Garlic Chicken, Cole Slaw and Wacky Cake. Easter Egg hunts, Christmas where everyone would come and argue over who was going to be master of the bathroom. It never failed that there would be so many. Many of the grandchildren will remember times spent throwing snowballs, freezing hands and cold feet, creating snowmen that would stay in the yard until a warm thaw. In the spring, there were rock throwing contests in the creek below the house, the best we save to the last, watching Granny prepare the syrup for the popcorn balls that had to be ready for the Christmas dinner. Over a hundred popcorn balls would be made. There are some that will remember the hot days of summer helping shovel sawdust in preparation of baby chicks for the two chicken houses. Remembering the eggs that had to be picked up after the chicks grew into hens. Thousands of eggs each day. Trips to Silver Dollar City, Fireworks at Shell Knob, Wiener roasts at Flat Creek, Cassville Christmas Parades. Memories of Winedrop cookies, Ragu Spaghetti, butter sauce cake. Vi's home was always the place to go to celebrate life. Many a person sat at the table drinking hot coffee, sharing news, visiting. Not a day of Vi's life was wasted, she left behind a lifetime legacy of memories. In addition her family consisting of three generations, 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grands. Her family was her life, a life worthwhile. Granny BC you will never be forgotten, you have left a part of yourself in every member of this family, and those that will come. - Back of Stone Fohn Funeral Home

The sad news of his death when received here, Thursday, was no surprise to those who knew of his declining health. William H. McMullen was born at Johnstown, Pa., March 13, 1827. That state was his home until 1877 when he and family moved from his native state to Nebraska. From there they moved to Kansas and then to the farm south of Cassville in 1888. He was married to Maggie Smith in 1855. To them were born seven children, five of whom are living they are: Mrs. Dell Riley of Mulberry, Kan., Geo. S. McMullen, John F. McMullen, and Mrs. Ora Golf of Mark, Okla., and Mrs. Zourie Weston, wife of Andy Weston of Chapel, Okla. Mrs. W. H. McMullen died at the family home south of Cassville a few years ago. The body was shipped from Mark, Okla., to Cassville, arriving here Tuesday night, when it was taken to the Masonic hall. Mr. McMullen being a member of the Masonic lodge at Cassville in charge of the brothers of Masonic fraternity, his body was convened to the Corinth Cemetery, Wednesday morning, where it was laid to rest with the honors of that order. Cassville,
Barry Co., MO
Research Note: She was the mother of Dora Elizabeth (Meador)Stubblefield (my great Grandmother) - She was a daughter of Reuben Harris and Anne (Burnett) Booth. - Her death certificate has her mother's maiden name as Tuggle, born in TN. - Cassville Republican, January 4, 1912 - Sister Lucy Ann Meador was born at Harrisonville, MO, Feb. 4, 1845, being the eldest daughter of Reuben and Anna Booth. She professed faith in Christ at the age of 21 and soon after united with the Missionary Baptist Church and committed a faithful member until Dec. 28, 1911, when the Lord called her home. She was married to George H. Meador, Feb. 24, 1867. To this union twelve children were born, nine of whom are still living, three dying in infancy. Her husband died Feb. 8, 1904. He was a faithful member of the Corinth Baptist Church. Aunt Lucy as she was familiarly called, was loved by all who knew her because of her kind and loving disposition, she was a true and affectionate wife and a loving and tender mother. Her husband found her a true help mate in every sense of the word as the keeping of her home and the training of her children plainly show. She leaves four sons and five daughters all of them splendid citizens and followers of their mother's God. The daughters are all married to honorable upright men and have good homes. The oldest son, E. N. Meador, is the editor of the Cassville Republican and Mayor of Cassville. Clarence is an industrious young farmer and has remained on the old home with the mother for which he serves much credit. These two are both married and have Christian wives. Elburn and Fred are both very successful teachers and prominent in school work and are forgoing to the front. She also leaves twenty-nine grandchildren and one great grand-child. Most of her grandchildren that are old enough are religious. The end came as peacefully as baby falling to seep on its mother's breast. She was anxious to go and often asked her Heavenly Father to take her home. The children and most of the grand-children together with a very large congregation of sorrowing relatives and friends were present at the funeral which was conducted by the writer of the Corinth Baptist Church at one p.m. Dec. 30th, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Corinth cemetery beside her husband. Mitts, age 20, married Emma R. Justice, age 22, on may 28, 1903 in Barry Co., MO. William's father, D. H. Mitts, gave consent. - Cassville Republican, July 25, 1912 - Emma Mitts vs. William Mitts, divorce, decree, of plaintiff. - A. N. Sills of Vinita, OK was the informant on the death certificate. - Cassville Democrat, Jan. 28, 1928 - Henry Thomas Mitts was born October 3, 1910 and died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Sills at Roaring River, December 27, 1927, aged seventeen years two months and fourteen days. He was stricken December 25 with influenza, and all that medical skill and loving hands could do were of no avail. When only five weeks old he was adopted onto the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sills. Being a very frail child he required more than ordinary care but with the untiring efforts of Mrs. Sills and the tender devotion of other members of the family, he grew to be reasonable strong, and was a promising young man. They loved him as their own and them he was ever a true affectionate son and brother. Henry was strictly moral and was always ready to render any assistance possible to young or old. To him the knowledge of right was at once his duty to obey, and though isolated from religious worship he was provided with religious literature in the home, and to the religious lessons in school he was ever an attentive listener. He was preparing to enter his third year of high school work, having completed his first two years in the Roaring River School. An impressive sermon was preached by Revered C. E. Henderson at the Sill's home on Wednesday afternoon. A special quarter from Corinth Church rendered some beautiful and appropriate music. The funeral was under the direction of Mr. Burckhalter of Oklahoma, and the remains was laid to rest in the Corinth Cemetery. Death Certificate
