He married April 15, 1877 in Barry Co., MO, to Tennessee Vanzandt. He second married May Tate. - Cassville Republican, August 24, 1893 - C. W. Edens, W. J. Farwell and J. J. Wallen are certain they saw the spook near the Exeter road one night last week. Wonder if any one else did? - June 4, 1914, Cassville Republican - Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Rankins of Wellington, Kan., arrived Sunday to visit Mrs. Rankin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Edens, south of town. - November 12, 1914, Cassville Republican - Seligman News: C. W. Edens swore out a warrant charging George Frank with horse stealing. Frank was arrested and sent to Cassville Monday morning. - March 9, 1916, Cassville Republican - Personal and Local News: C. W. Eden, south of town, returned last week from Rogers, Ark., where he was called by the serious illness of a sister, Mrs. Wm. Miner. He went from Rogers to Bernice and visited his brother, George Eden. - Cassville Republican, April 10, 1919 - Licenses to wed: C. W. Eden, 68, Cassville and May Tate, 50, Cassville - C. W. Edens and Mrs. May Tate were married by Probate Judge Wallen Friday afternoon. Mrs. Eden is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith of the Pasley locality. Mr. Edens has been one of the substantial citizens of this community for the past forty years or more. - Cassville Republican, Oct. 9, 1919 - Jas. Vanzandt of Los Angeles, Calif., and George Vanzandt of Cheyenne, Wyo., arrived Monday for a visit with their half-brothers, Tom, Walter and Rev. Chas. Vanzandt, and half-sister, Mrs. E. W. Daugherty, of Purdy and C. W. Eden and family. They had been away twenty-three years and found so many changes they hardly recognized their old home place. Charlotte Edens was given as his wife's name. - September 5, 1912, Cassville Republican - Eden - Miller: Orville L. Edens and Miss Charlotte Miller were married Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 24, Rev. Will Ireland saying the ceremony at his home about two miles south of town. Mr. Eden is the son of C. W. Edens south of Cassville and has lived in this county all his life. He is an industrious and energetic farmer, being highly esteemed by everyone one who knows him. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Stapleton south of Cassville and is a highly respected and excellent young lady. Edens, 56, Washburn, who died at 7:45 p.m. Friday at South Barry County Hospital, Cassville, where he had been a patient the last nine days, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, south of Washburn. The Rev. Jess Higgs and the Rev. John Selleck officiated. Burial was in Corinth Cemetery, southeast of Cassville, under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville. Mr. Edens was born Jan. 24, 1920, at Washburn and was a lifetime resident here. He was employed at Town and Country Market and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. SSW: Columbus W. - Research Note: She was a wife of Columbus W. Eden. Her death certificate states that she was a daughter of Thomas J. Vanzandt, Sr., and his wife, Mary Catherine Cornett. - Tennessee Eden, wife of C. W. Eden who resides about three miles south of town, passed to her eternal home Tuesday January 6, 1915, at the family home after a few days sickness of kidney trouble. Mrs. Edens had not been enjoying the best of health for some time, being troubled with stomach and heart ailments to some extent. Monday her ailments became very acute and uremic poison of the kidney's developed. Her hours of intense suffering were few which is a great consolation to the bereaved members of the family. Mrs. Eden was born February 27, 1854 on Washburn Prairie in this county. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Vanzandt. In the locality about Washburn she grew to womanhood. She was married to C. W. Eden. To them were born eight children, six living. They are, Mrs. Myrtle Summers of this city, Orville, south of town, Mrs. Florence Rankins of Wellington Kan., Clara, Floyd and Thelma at home. She leaves four brothers and one sister, John Vanzandt of Arkansas E.,L. of Texas, George of Wyoming, James of California and Mrs. Delia Knott of Idaho. She also leaves three half brothers and half sister Tom, Walter and Rev. Charles Vanzandt and Mrs. E. W. Daughtery. - August 15, 1908, Cassville Democrat - Geo. Vanzandt of Cheyenne, Wyoming, has been having a re-union this week, with his sisters Mrs. C. W. Edens, and Mrs. Ed. Dunn, and his brothers Walter and Tom Vanzandt and Gen. Brixey and many old time friends. He has done well and we are glad of it. He left this county 24 years ago. Online Obit

Sinai News: Mrs. Rade Fisher died at her home Friday morning after a brief illness. In the death of Mrs. Fisher we have lost a good neighbor, a kind wife and mother. She lived a devoted Christian life and has just paid the debt we all owe. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her loss. The remains were interred, Saturday in the Huff Cemetery. Josephine grew up and received her education in Cassville, graduating from Cassville High School in 1936. For sixty-four years she worked for Barry County Abstract and Title Company, as an abstractor and later as manager. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church in Cassville. She was born July 18, 1863 and died Oct. 26, 1940, buried at Corinth Cemetery. Sarah first married Noble Shelton Lee in 1883. - May 19, 1910, Cassville Republican - R. R. Fisher and family attended the funeral of Mr. Fisher's stepfather J. R. Sammons, near Seligman Sunday. - June 25, 1914, Cassville Republican - R.R. Fisher and son, Clarence, returned home Friday, from a few weeks visit to Jackson County, in the southern part of Illinois, the parental home of Mr. Fisher. He reports an enjoyable visit with relatives and old acquaintances, which brought back familiar associations of earlier days. Fogg on May 7, 1948, and he preceded her in death April 28, 1970. Survivors include two sisters, and several nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces. SSW: Clara - Research Note: Son of William S. and Rachel (Dotson) Fogg. - Cassville Republican, May 26, 1910 - A horse of Mr. Fogg's went mad last week and died. It bit his son, Frank. They took him to the mad stone at Purdy but it did not stick. He is getting along very well. - Cassville Democrat, Nov. 1985 - Services for Frank Fogg, 90, Cassville Route 2, who died at 1:40 p.m. Friday November 1, 1985, at South Barry County Hospital after a long illness, were Monday at Axley's Culver Chapel. Rev. Lawrence Shuey officiated. Burial was in Corinth Cemetery, south of Cassville. Fogg was born January 6, 1895, in the Pasley community, near Cassville, and was a life long area resident. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He served on the Eagle Rock school board for many years. He was assistant superintendent of Roaring River State Park from 1948-1952. A self-proclaimed "old man of the mountains" he was affectionately titled the mayor of Eagle Rock for a number of years. During recent years he had been blind, living with his late daughter and her husband, M .A. Kammerlohr, Sr., in the Horner community. He married Clara Evaline Farwell on September 28, 1919 near Eagle Rock. She died December 21, 1979. Survivors include a son, Dennis Fogg, Wichita, Ks; a daughter Mrs. Ruth Watkins, Yellville, AR; a sister Mrs. Mary Church, Cassville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren." He was preceded in death by his daughter Maxine Fogg Kammerlohr. She is buried in the National Cemetery at Springfield, Mo. - Military Stone - Inscription:"PFC US ARMY WORLD WAR I" Online Obit

Research Note: On her death certificate, her parents were given as James and Nancy (Slain/Slane) Dotson, born in IN. She was given as a widow. - Cassville Democrat, Nov. 16, 1929 - Mrs. Rachel Jane Fogg, old and highly respected citizen, died at her home five miles south of Cassville, Nov. 8th. She was born in Indiana Jan. 22, 1862. She was a daughter of the late James Dotson. She and William S. Fogg were married by Esq. A. J. Lee, Sept. 12, 1882. To this union nine children were born, all living who are: Walter of Jasper, Texas, Alton of Pueblo, Colo, Hildrea Haygood, Bertha Eden, Jim, Frank and Mrs. Mary Church of near home. Lewis and Barney still living at home. She leaves twelve grandchildren and host of friends and neighbors. Mrs. Fogg was converted several years ago and united with the South Methodist church. Her husband, Wm. S. Fogg died April 15th of this year. She has lived at the old home where she died since she was eight years of age. Funeral services were conducted at the Corinth church on Saturday afternoon Nov. 10th by Charles Vanzandt. A large congregation of neighbors and friends gathered to pay a last tribute of respect to her memory. The body was laid to rest in the Corinth cemetery, under the direction of the Horine Funeral Service. Death Certificate

Fogg gave consent. - January 12, 1907, Cassville Democrat - Washburn Prairie News: The shooting affair at E. W. Daugherty's store that resulted in the death of Lee Hefley and wounding of Clyde Hefley and Lon Tatman by Walter Fogg, who was struck on the check by a mug thrown by Clyde Hefley, was a very sad occurrence and is regretted by all. - February 9, 1907, Cassville Democrat - Circuit Court Docket: State vs. Walter Fogg, selling liquor without license. - Cassville Democrat, September 7, 1907 - The case of State vs. Walter Fogg, under the charge of murder, will probably come up next week for trial. Walter Fogg is charged with killing Lee Hefley at Milwaukee (Barry County) 4 miles south of this city, last December 1906, with a pistol. The defendant claims justification. This killing was not caused by any former trouble between themselves, but troubles of relatives and the long tongued gossipers who delight in mischief making. By the way these mischief makers are being spotted in every neighborhood and their stock in trade is known. Beware of them - they carry trouble. - May 11, 1916, Cassville Republican - Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fogg, south of this city, received word lately stating that their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Walter Fogg had died April 25 in a hospital in New Orleans, La., where she had gone for treatment for cancer of the stomach. SSW: Rachel J. - Research Note: Cassville Democrat - Another Old Time Citizen Died Near Cassville Sunday - Barry County has lost several of its old time and highly respected citizens during the past three weeks and another to fall, was William Shepherd Fogg, who passed on at his home in the Pasley community Sunday, following a short illness. William Shepherd Fogg was born in Fountain County, Indiana, November 10, 1858. Died April 15, 1923, aged 69 years, 5 months, and 5 days. He was converted several years ago and joined the Church of God and was baptized and has lived a Christian life since. He came to Missouri while young, settling near Windsor, Henry County. He was married to Rachel Dotson of Indiana on Sept. 12, 1882, at the home of her father, James Dotson, which is now their present home. To this union was born 9 children, Walter of Jasper, Tex., Alton of Cleburne, Kans.; James, Hildra Haygood, Bertha Edens, Frank, and Mary Church of near home, Lewis and Barney at home. Research Note: He was the son of Kenneth Eugene and Golda (Cantwell) Fulton. On July 14, 1950, he was united in marriage to Charlene Ball. Kenneth received his education at Washburn and Cassville. For fifty-five years he lived in the Washburn Prairie area, living the rest of his life at Exeter. He was a livestock farmer and worked for Marley Construction, building cooling towers throughout the United States. In 1970, he retired from Marley Construction as superintendent. He was a member of Washburn First Baptist Church and a life-time member of the American Coon Hunters Association. In his earlier years he was very active in the PRCA. Fohn Funeral Home
