By 1870 census, she is back home living with her parents. John Sexton, born 1832, Green Co., IN, was a farmer, enlisted on July 11, 1855, Capps Creek, MO, by Capt. Coffee, 1 Cav., Co. K., Discharge date July 11, 1860, cause of discharge was Exp. of service. Records indicate that he died in 1866. John William Sexton, son of John and Martha, born 1865 and died 1957 in Pierce City, MO and is buried at Clear Creek. - 1900 Census, Capps Creek, Barry, Missouri - John William Sexton, born 1865 MO, age 35, father born IN, mother TN; his wife Sarah (Allen), age 41, born IL; Martha A., mother, age 63, widowed, father born TN, mother VA; and Mary C. Smith, aunt, age 66, widowed, born TN, father born TN, mother VA, no children. They are living next door to Jesse H. Christopher, brother to Martha and Mary. Daughter Sarah Elizabeth's Record: - Elizabeth married Gustus Weaver Yoachum on Apr. 10, 1868 in Barry Co., MO. - Pierce City Leader-Journal, Friday, December 17, 1920 - Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Yoachum died at her home Dec. 9, age 80 years, 5 months, and 14 days. Death was due to chronic bronchitis. Funeral services were held at the Clear Creek church, Friday, Dec. 10. The deceased was the wife of G. W. All children born TN. - The following from a relative contacted by Jay: About the headstone marked R. W. C. I'd guess that is Richard Christopher, younger brother of William Christopher. My data shows William Christopher born in 1845, and Richard Christopher born in 1846. I am related through the first child of this Jesse and Susan Christopher, James Christopher. He is abt 12 years older than the William whom you say served in the Civil War. My guess is that James removed himself back to Tennessee, possibly avoiding the war. Her first husband was William Henry Walker. He died in 1864. Frances is widowed by 1880 census with children, Alice, age 12; Jeremiah, age 9; and Hulda, age 6. Inscription: "Age 73 yrs 9 mos 17 days" - Research Note: The following from a relative contacted by Jay: William Sexton was Jesse's grandson, and I'll bet the Mary Smith buried at that graveyard is Mary Christopher. Probably a daughter of Jesse and Susan Christopher. 1880 census, Capps Creek, Barry, Missouri, has Mary Christopher, age 40, with Jesse, age 77, and Susan, age 68. (She's right.) - Cassville Democrat, March 6, 1909 - Hazel Dell News: Aunt Polly Smith, nee Christopher, one of the old time citizens of this community died Thursday and was buried Friday afternoon at the Christopher Cemetery. She was 73 years of age and leaves two sisters and several other relatives to mourn her death. - Mary married Nathan Smith on July 29, 1880 in Newton Co., MO. - 1900 Census, Capps Creek, Barry, Missouri - Mary C.
