"Bunk" - Research Note: Cassville Democrat, October 15, 1980 - Services for Chloe Blankenship, 81, Jenkins, who died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 7 at the home of daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Ragain, Jenkins, after an illness, were at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Shiloah Baptist Church, west of Jenkins. Rev. Rob Hodson officiated. Burial, under direction of Williamson Chapel at Cassville was in Blankenship Cemetery, south of Jenkins. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Mrs. Blankenship was born June 27, 1899, near Jenkins and was a lifetime resident. She was a member of Shiloah Baptist Church. She married W. H. "Bunk" Blankenship, who died January 15, 1963. - Daughter of George Alexander Hudson and Rebecca Jane Doty. Online Obit

Bennett of Nevada, MO was the informant. Place of burial was given as Aurora, MO which is incorrect. - Son of Jonathan B. Blankinship and Wilmurth McKinney. - Info provided by a family member at ancestry.com: Samuel P. Blankenship, son of Jonathan Blankenship, was born in West Virginia February 27, 1847. He served during the Civil War in the Union army from 1862-1865 in the 15th Mo. Cavalry in Co. G. Pamela (Permelia) Jane Rogers, his wife, was born September 10, 1843 in Kingston, Arkansas. They were married in 1870. They had a large family - all girls, except two. Jonathan Blankenship drove an ox team and wagon with all their household belongings all the way from West Virginia. Indexed under BlankEnship. - Cassville Republican, January 17, 1963 - Funeral services for William Henry "Bunk" Blankenship, 65, who died January 15 in the Aurora hospital, will be conducted Thursday afternoon, 2:00 o'clock, in the Clio Community Building. Elder Oliver Coones and Elder Roy Williamson will officiate and burial will be in the Blankenship cemetery near Jenkins under direction of Williamson Chapel in the Valley of Cassville. Mr. Blankenship was a son of the late Samuel and Permilian Blankenship and was born July 19, 1897, near Cassville. He spent his entire life in Barry County except for three years that he lived with his parents in Guymon Okla. On March 20, 1916, he was married to Miss Chloe Hudson of Jenkins and they spent their married life on the same farm near Jenkins. They were the parents of four children. Besides farming and stock raising he taught singing schools over all Barry County and adjoining counties. Surviving in addition to his wife and children are four sisters, Mrs. Annie Blankenship of Yale, Okla.; Mrs. Maggie Lee of Modesto, Calif.; Mrs. Phala Bell of Kernville, Calif.; and Mrs. Vada Phillips of Jenkins and 15 grandchildren. Rogers and Agnes Penquite (Vance) Rogers. - Info provided by a family member at ancestry.com: James Vance Rogers was born in Tennessee in 1810. His wife, Elizabeth (Burks) Rogers was born in Tennessee in 1813. Ten children were born in Tennessee, Iowa and Arkansas. James Vance Rogers was a slave holder. He once bought a one-year-old baby, and as he rode away with it, the cries of the mother caused him to go back and give her the baby. He then went home and turned all his slaves free. They refused to leaved him, and he permitted them to stay with pay. Note
