She was set up on a date with Charles and soon they fell in love, and so the story began. Following their marriage on October 8, 1955, they moved to Arkansas briefly while Charles was in the United States Army. After living in California and Oklahoma, they made their home in Monett, where in 1967, in their garage, Charles and Janette started a small machine shop which grew until they purchased a building on 1st Street that became C and J Machine Shop. They operated the business till the Lord called him home on June 24, 2014. Janette was a member of the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church in Purdy for several years. It was at that little white church in the country that she and Charles were married and where he sat in May of 2014 and listened to their last sermon here on Earth together. Now, as she always told us, she is "walking on the streets of gold", hearing the most amazing stories and sermons from her Father. Janette was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Bonnie Medlin; and her husband, Charles Smith. Buchanan Funeral Home

Such, 400 Fifth, was found at her home early Tuesday afternoon, February 9, by Mrs. James Wallner, who has an apartment in the Such residence. She had been dead all night, death being caused presumably from a heart attack. Mrs. Such had been ill with the flu for several days but was able to be up on Monday. About 9 o'clock Monday night, Mrs. Such came downstairs and called to Mrs. Wallner that she didn't feel very good and couldn't sleep, so told her she would listen to the radio for a while. Mrs. Wallner did not see Mrs. Such in the morning. After finishing lunch about 1:30 o'clock in the afternoon, Mrs. Wallner went into Mrs. Such's apartment to see how she was feeling and found her on her knees on the living room floor with her arm thrown up in a chair. Mrs. Wallner immediately phoned Milton Reynaud, a close friend of the family, who summoned Dr. J.M. Russell, Mrs. Such's physician. Dr. Russell pronounced Mrs. Such dead, due to a heart attack. Mrs. Such evidently turned off the radio, suffered a heart attack and grasped for a chair as she fell to the floor. Coroner F.C. Callaway was called and, after giving a heart attack as the cause of death, said it would not be necessary to hold an inquest. She had been dead since about 10 or 11 o'clock Monday night. Mrs. Such was a pioneer resident of Monett, her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Heffernan being among the first citizens of the new town of Monett. She was the mother of two sons, Herbert and Billy (William K.), who survive. Mr. Such died when Billy was a small boy. Monett Times
