Research Note: Robert Roper, 49, of Joplin, formerly of Eagle Rock, died yesterday, July 27, at his home. He was the son of Stanley Lee and Mary Margarete (Burgess) Roper. He did custom welding and was a pipeline inspector with American Consulting Inc. He was a member of the National Rodeo Association and American Welding Association. He married Gayla Deanne Hunt on June 19, 1998, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Survivors include three sons, two daughters, one brother, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Andy Roper.
