Research Note: Cecil was a very early resident of Wheaton, MO. Moving there in about 1912 with his widowed mother and four sisters that he raised. He and Partner Jess Evans owned the Daugherty and Evans Real Estate company located on Main street in Wheaton. They continued this real estate business until about 1945 when he moved his office to Neosho, MO. Cecil was a long time member of Wheaton Comfort Lodge #533. His Grandfather, Josiah Daugherty, and seven others established the Washburn Prairie Church in Barry County.


Cecil Daugherty is the man on the right in the photo and it was taken at Camp McArthur, Texas. The other man is unknown to the submitter.

Research Note: Arbby gives his place of birth as Purdy, MO on his enlistment papers and the 1900 census says he was born in the Indian Territory. A court record dated 1896-1897 states that he is residing in Barry Co.

Arbby's mother is claiming citizenship in the Cherokee Tribe and it lists her children at the time. The 1900 census finds him in McDonald Twp., Barry Co., MO His three siblings in 1900 were born in Kansas, Michigan and Missouri. The 1906 census of Canada's Prairie Provinces he is at Tees Alberta.
The record shows he and his family immigrated to Canada in 1902. He volunteers and is examined March 16, 1916 at Lacombe, Alberta. His regimental number is 625184. Next of kin given is his father, Emery Driskell of Roseberg, OR.
The men of the 151st were used as replacements for battalions already in the field. There appears to be no further record available for Arbby. He is not listed in Canada's "Books of Remembrance" that are a list of Canada's War Dead.
