Deed & Mortgage Records at the Court House
Deeds, warranties, quit claims and mortgages begin with the year
1837 forward to present day and they are are stored in the
recorder's office of the Barry County courthouse. They are
listed by grantor and grantee and cross matched as well, they
list the date of instrument, date filed, book recorded in, page
number, a description of property and the nature of the file.
Depending on what the nature is, depends on what book they will
be located in. The really old ones are listed by letter and
extremely hard to read ... the later ones are listed by number.
The folks in the office really work hard to get a dark enough
copy for us to read.
