Horney Buck - Vine Hill School reunion May 7

When I awoke this morning, My mind began to stray, The Horney Buck "Vine Hill" reunion, Is not very far away.

It's always the first Sunday in May, It falls on the 7th this year, The crowd keeps getting bigger, As they come from far and near.

A lot of them are just like me, That's where they got most their learning, And as the date draws near, My heart it starts a yearning.

To see all my friends and kinfolks, And old school pals, I'd forgot, I meet new friends there every year, Good friends sure mean a lot.

And wait till you see that table, It reaches from wall to wall, With everything you can think of, In dishes both big and small.

I hope Joyce brings some cornbread and beans, Dilly, he even brings candy, It don't have to be anything fancy, Just bring what you have handy.

My Aunt Sadie makes the coffee, I think Marilyn donated the pot, and we've pieced a friendship quilt, And put our names in the blocks.

Oh, I'd like to get that quilt, There's so many blocks they may have two, I've just got to win one, I'll leave the other for you.

Call Ada Branstetter or Audie Rutledge, They'll sell all the chances you want to buy, The money goes for repairs on the school, when you see it you'll be surprised.

You'll be surprised when you see the school, and see what all they've done, Even carpet on the floors, New windows to let in the sun.

They've redone the little houses out back, And new doors I hear say, Now if someone would bring a catalog, It would be like the good old days.

The rebud and dogwood, Almost always are in bloom, Sometime people stand outside, Cause there is not enough room.

Now be sure and come, Tell everyone you see, I'll be looking for you, You be looking for me.
