WITTENBORG ~ PLETKE

The Wittenborg family of the Bodenteich area of Germay emmigrated to Winona. If you should happen to know anything about them and their destiny I'd be very interested. I am also interested in sharing information about the Pletke Family.

ROHWEDER ~ SEIDLITZ

John Rohweder is my gggrandfather on my mother's side and his daughter Lizzie or Lizie Rohweder (Seidlitz) was my ggrandmother. I have found very little on my Rohweder side of the family, partially because Lizzie died at a young age of 29 in 1899 of tuberculosis and a new wife to her husband Herman Seidlitz who was Anna became the new mother to Lizzie's three children. I would appreciate any help in finding more info. on the Rohweder family or if there are any Rohweders in Winona that I could contact.

Thank you for all your help.

PAULDER ~ O'TOOLE

I believe my great grandmother Emily Paudler may have lived in Winona sometime between 1889 and 1895. She may have been married at the time to John H O'Toole. Do these names sound familiar? They may have even gotten married there.

POMEROY ~ WINONA SEMINARY FOR LADIES

Hello - I am trying to assemble information on Delina ("Lina") Pomeroy, who apparently attended the Winona Seminary For Ladies at least one year in 1895. I have a 'report card' (just a self written note of record, really) of her marks in September 1895. She was about 14 years old at the time. Her Father was a Captain and prominent shipping businessman in Superior, Wisconsin, who built a magnificent 21 room Victorian home here. My wife and I are restoring it and would like to include a picture, document or something to note his step-daughter's attendance at the school.

Do you know what the school is now or if parts of it are still standing? If so, is there a records department that may verify our information? Any assistance of any type would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Ed Montgomery

Since Ed sent this query, much information on the seminary has been entered on this page.

HALL ~ HAVENS

Wow! what a wonderful old book. My grandmother's family (HALL) lived in Winona and the first child was born in 1885. I am searching for info on Orange Vanderver Hall "OV" and Hannah Almyra HAVENS HALL. My grandmother told me the family had a farm and that OV had worked/owned a flour mill. Do you have any information on this family you could share with me?

Thanks,
Holly Cartier
