Stanley I. Nelson, 71, died Jan. 8 in Watonwan Memorial hospital.
Funeral service was conducted Monday afternoon in Long Lake Lutheran church, with Rev. Earl Peterson officiating. Organist for the service was Mrs. Richard Anderson, while DeWayne Stark offered vocal music.
Pallbearers were Frank Schmillen, Glenn Otsea, Urban Neisen, Raymond Dodd, Robert Dougherty, and Jim Jacoby. Honorary pallbearers were Vince Zender, Peter Heppner and Roland Joblinske.
Burial was in Long Lake Lutheran cemetery, and Pease Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Born March 11, 1915 in Long Lake township, he was the son of Connie and Minnie (Boen) Nelson.
He attended rural school in District 32.
His marriage to Fern Wright Lupke took place in 1959 at St. James. She died in 1973.
On July 23 1979 he married Mildred Siem of Butterfield.
A long time employee of the Watonwan county highway department, he retired in 1978. He was an active member of Long Lake church.
Nelson is survived by his wife; a step daughter , Mrs. Roger (Delores) Johnson of Crystal; a step son, Roger Lupke of Ormsby; three grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Harlan of LaSalle; two nieces, Corinne Schulz of Pierz and Marlene Nelson of Arlington.
