Joanne Elaine Betz, 33 died Jan. 5 in rural Comfrey.
Funeral service was conducted Friday afternoon in Albion Lutheran church, with Rev. Gary Halverson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The daughter of Harlen and Lucille (Osland) Olson, she was born Jan. 26, 1953 at Sleepy Eye. She attended rural schools and was a graduate of St. James high school. She attended Golden Valley Lutheran College at Golden Valley for two years.
During her high school years, she was active in Girl Scouts and worked as a candystriper at Watonwan Memorial hospital and Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center.
She was a lifeguard and swimming instructor for several summers at Sleepy Eye.
She was married to Dale Betz in Albion Lutheran church, and was the Godahl correspondent for the Plaindealer for several years.
Her hobbies were photography, art, hardanger, crocheting, scrapbooks, cooking, accordion and piano playing.
An infant brother preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Glen, 11 and David Hilmer, eight; her parents, Harlen and Lucille Olson of rural Comfrey.
Also surviving are a brother, Jerry of New Ulm; a niece, Christy Olson of New Ulm; aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles; and many cousins. Funeral arrangements were handled by Pease Funeral Home.
