Very interesting site, but could not find my great great Grandfather Charles R, Hurd who was from Winona county, Minn. Volunteered in Febuary,1865. Was a pvt.in G co. 1st. Minn. H. Arty. Was said that he died of disentary and is buried in the Chattanooga National Cemetery at plot:G 8711. Died 5/24/1865. Philip Hurd
BATTLE OF FITZHUGH'S WOODS
My brother and I are researching The Battle of Fitzhugh's Woods fought outside Augusta, Arkansas on April 1, 1864. The battle involved portions of the 32nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment and The 3rd Minnesota. I would like to know if you have any information about the battle that you might share with me. Letters are very interesting, but any information such as journal entries, diaries, and accounts by the soldiers would be much appreciated. Searching for Historical Information about the 3rd Minnesota. Larry Lunday
