Biography of James Edward Doughty
from father Samuel's Biography

J. Edward was born July 2, 1841, became a leading Lake City attorney, and died July 14, 1884. He served through the Civil War as captain of the 2nd U. S. Sharpshooters (Co. L, 2nd Minn. Vol. Inf.) and was brevetted Major, a title which he afterward continued to bear.
