Lookups
Lookups

From Brian

On the Rootsweb Wabasha County message board of Nov. 1/2000 you mentioned Oliver Nelson and some of his family members which I recognized.

If you or any other researchers are interested, I am fortunate to have a copy of a book, "Wilderness Home 1854" by Joseph S. Nelson, an ancestor of Arnold E. Nelson from whom my wife is decended, and would be willing to do lookups.

Oliver Nelson was born "Halvar," Oliver being the American version. He is one of 9 children who came to Minnesota about 1854 (1850) from Valdres Norway. The Rovang name is also part of this family. The book lists all of their travels, who they married and the offspring of each and where and what they did. It tells in great detail of their travel in Wisconsin to Decorrah and Wabasha Co.

It also lists ancestors back to 1620. I see you list Oliver Nelson's parents as Nels and Anna Oliverson. Not to say the book is 100% accurate but it states that Nels (Nils) married Anna Halvorstatte of Karstad at the West Slidre Church in Valdres on February 27, 1830

I have gained much information from your web site regarding the History of Wabasha Co. Thanks.
