OLIVER, Orris, was born in 1818, Clinton County, New York. He was the son of Loyal Oliver, of Scotch-Irish descent, who arrived in Clinton County in 1809, while a young man of 13. Orris spent his childhood days in Rouse's Point, Clinton County and met and married Martha Hallowell Forbes. Martha was born in 1823, Montreal, Canada, the daughter of William Forbes and Mary Cuppage, also of Scotch-Irish descent. The following children were born to Orris and Martha while residing in Clinton County: James Ashley, born 1840; William Forbes born 1842; Margaret Ann born1844; Elizabetta Amelia born 1846, Mary Frances born 1848, Hannibal Orris born 1853, Emily Charlotte born 1856. In 1857 Orris and Martha packed up their little tribe and traveled by covered wagon to Wabasha County, MN, where Orris purchased some good farm land in Guilford Township. Two more children were born of this union once they settled in Wabasha County; Minnesota (in honor of Minnesota becoming a state in 1858) and George Loyal born 1864. Orris died in 1885 and Martha in 1897. Both are buried in the Lincoln Cemetery, Guilford Township, Wabasha County, MN.

OLIVER, James Ashley, was born in 1840, Rouse's Point, NY, the son of Orris and Martha Oliver, who were pioneer settlers in Guilford Township, Wabasha County, MN. When a young man of 18, James arrived with his parents and siblings in Wabasha County, Guilford Township and settled there. James served as a teamster in the Civil War from Minnesota and was honorably discharged at the close of the war. He married Eva Marie Welch on January 4, 1870 in Zumbro Falls, MN and this union was blessed with the following children: Eva Agnes, born 187o; Ashley Fremont born 1872; Dean Orris born 1877, Samuel Loyal born 1880, Porter Chester born 1882, Martha Eliza born 1885, James Garfield born 1887 and Mildred Sophia Glenn born 1893. Eva Welch was born in Horicon, WI, 1849, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Welch and Nancy Agnes Wooden Smiley. Eva Oliver died in November of 1900 in Reeds Landing, MN, after residing there for 44 years. James Oliver died in Pepin Township in April of 1907 and is buried in Riverview Cemetery, Reed's Landing, MN.

OLIVER, William Forbes, was the second son of Orris and Martha Oliver and was born in 1842, Rouse's Point, Clinton County, NY. When 16 years of age he traveled with his parents to Guilford Township, Wabasha County, where his parents helped to settle that early town. William served in the Civil War from Minnesota and was honorably discharged at the close of the war. In November of 1864, William married Margaret (Maggie) Whaley, the daughter of Lewis Whaley, also an early settler of Guilford Township. Of this union, two children were born; Cora Lee, born 1866 who died in childbirth and William Henry (Willie), born 1868. William and Maggie were divorced and he married for the second time Clarissa McCain, daughter of Samuel McCain and Eliza Knapp, who also resided in Guilford Township. Of this union, the following children were born: Nellie Blanche born 1878, Martha Eliza born 1882, Harland Forbes born 1885, Bulah M. and Ida (twins) born 1887. William Oliver died in April of 1914 in Clear Lake, WI, Polk County and is buried there.

OLIVER, Hannibal Orris, was born December 8, 1853 at Rouse's Point, Clinton County, NY, third son of Orris and Martha Oliver, pioneer settlers of Guilford Township, Wabasha County. When Han was 5 years old, he arrived in Guilford, where his parents farmed for many years. As an adult, he met and married a young lady by the name of Edith Estelle Morse ("Stella"), daughter of Mason W. Morse and Priscilla Rankin, who also resided in Guilford Township. Hannibal and Edith had the following children: Stuart Hannibal born 1884, Glen Mason, born 1886, Edna Kate, born 1888, Florida born 1889 and Priscilla Ruth, born 1897; all born in Guilford Township. Edith and Han removed to Kathio Township, Mille Lacs County, MN in the early 1900's and continued to farm and raise their family in that county. Stuart H. married Elizabeth Stewart and resided in Tacoma, WA; Glen M. was killed in World War I, while in France; Edna K. married Axel Johnson and resided in Onamia, MN; Priscilla R. married Gustaf M. Bergendahl and moved to Tacoma, WA. Hannibal Oliver died in 1919 and Edith died in 1918. Both are buried in Lakewood Cemetery, Mille Lacs County, MN.

OLIVER, George Loyal, the last child born to Martha (Forbes) Oliver and Orris was born June 17, 1864, in Guilford Township, Wabasha County, during the Civil War. Two of his brothers were off fighting in the war at the time of his birth. In 1886 George Oliver married (1st) Mary Marshall, also of Wabasha Coutny. That union produced no children. He married (2nd) Emma Dickmann, whose family was originally from Indiana and settled in the town of Hammond, Wabasha County, Emma was of German descent; parents were Ferdinand Dickmann and Evrasina. George and Emma had the following children: George Forbes born 1897, James Dewey born 1899, Essie Mae born 1900 (died in infancy), Vera Eva born 1902 (died in infancy), Hazel Esther born 1904, Marion Emaline born 1906 and Loyal Ashley born 1917; all children born in Guilford Township, Wabasha County, MN. George Loyal Oliver died in 1941 and Emma died in 1959. Both are buried at the Lincoln Cemetery in Guilford Township.
