EYSTAD, JOHNSEN, JENSSEN, LEE - Looking for relatives from Norway who settled in Morris, Stevens County, MN (and also Chippewa Falls, WI). Chris & Anna JENSSEN EYSTAD immigrated from Norway (probably Oslo area) in the 1880s. They may have come with extended family. They later moved to San Fransisco. They had at least 3 daughters, and I'm not sure about sons. Their daughter Thea Olivia JOHNSEN EYSTAD (born 1861-1865) emigrated in 1885, likely to Morris, Minnesota, and moved to San Francisco, California in 1887. Her parents moved to San Francisco at one point, as well. I have lots of family photos from the late 1800s. I believe one of the EYSTAD daughters married a man named LEE and had children named Arthur & Alma LEE, born around the 1890s. I would love to exchange information.

Katherine LENZ died April 14, 1899 when the youngest child was not quite 2 years old. Their dad, John LENZ more or less abandoned the family and has left us with a very difficult search. WEINAND, SCHABEL, TROSKIA, JERKE. John WEINAND, born 1835, of Medina Post Office applied for a homestead on 3/8/1898. He had lived on the land since around 1892. Sometime around 1890 he married Theresia TROSKIA JERKE, a widow with two grown children - Joseph JERKE and Clara JERKE SCHABEL, and several grandchildren with the surname SCHABEL. John Weinand and Theresia and her daughter and son in law and her grandchildren were all living on this farm in the early 1900's. I am looking for 1)location of Medina Post Office 2)location of the homesteaded land; apparently it was in the NE corner of Section 17 3)record of marriage and of death for John WEINAND and his wife Theresia 4)anyone else who is researching these families or has heard of them. I am not sure, but I think the land might have been near the border of Traverse and/or Big Stone Counties.

The family name(s) of KNUTSON/KNUTSDATTER/TEIGEN/BOTTEM. I am researching the descendants of seven of my grandfather's cousins, some of whom immigrated to the Stevens Co. area between 1870 and 1891 from the farm Søre Teigen Bottem located in Lesja, Oppland, Norway. Their parents were KNUT Johanneson, b. 1793, and Anne Jørgensdatter, b. 1832 (my GGrandmother's neice). My information is from the Lesja Bygdebok, and no mention is made of the surname they took in the U.S. The assumtion is they used KNUTSON/KNUTSDATTER, but one or more may have taken the name TEIGEN or BOTTEM. My info on the 7 is: (1) Jørgen, b:1855, m:?, d:abt 1922, imm:1870 to MN, buried: Ben Wade, Pope Co. (2)Åse, b:1858, m:?, d:?, imm:1879 to Lanesboro, MN. (6) Jørdine, b:1870, m:?, d:?, imm: 1891 to NY. (7) Ingeborg, b:1870, m:?, d:?, imm:1889 to Minneapolis. My GGrandmother's side of the family homesteaded in Richland Co. ND. in 1878. There are several dozen 'cousins' on that side of the family. I would appreciate hearing from anybody w/ information about these individuals, particularily about their descendants and their whereabouts. Have info on 10 generations of ancestors, I would happily share with 'cousins'.
