She was united in marriage with Frederick A. Wickie of Hallock, Minnesota, on Nov. 15, 1936, and resided in Hallock until 1957.

During her married life, she was primarily involved in being a homemaker and a mother, but was active in church work, Star Points and Worthy Matron of Lota Chapter O.E.S., hospital and nursing home auxiliaries.

She was employed at the J.C. Penney store in Fargo from 1962, until retiring in 1974, to live on Lake Franklin near Pelican Rapids, before going back to Fargo in 1983.

She had been a member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1961, with time-out for membership in Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pelican Rapids, while living on Lake Franklin. She has been a faithful worker in Messiah's quilting activity. Since 1983, she has been a member of the Auxiliary to Rosewood on Broadway Nursing Home, formerly known as Fargo Nursing Home.

Emma is survived by two sons, Richard (Loretta) Wickie, Hunter; Thomas (Karen) Wickie, Windom; one daughter, Mary (Robert "Coke") Smith, Fargo; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
