Andreas came from Norway at the age of 8 years. His mother had died shortly before of "Black Death" (Black Diphteria). He came with his father, older brother, and sister to Benson, MN. After getting more established, he father sent for the four other children, and the older woman who had cared for them after their mother's death. One sister was married and never came to America.
