Sugden & Horn
Early Kittson County Settlers
Several Horn-Sugden family members from Ontario, Canada were some of the early settlers of Kittson County, MN. The three original families were Joseph Sugden (wife Elizabeth Miller and two young children), his sister Martha and husband William Allan (with son and two daughters) and their first cousin James R. Horne (Horn spelled with added e), his wife Margaret Walker and three small children. Margaret had a brother James Walker who also came with them and settled near St. Vincent. The mother of Joseph Sugden and Martha Allan was Sarah Horn. In the following years several other first cousins and nephews followed from Ontario. Many descendants of these families still live in the area.
There are presently descendants distributed throughout the United States and Western Canada from these early families
