Judith Bothum

Karlstad - Judith Bothum, 88, died at the Karlstad Health Care Center, Saturday, April 14, 2001.

Judith Linnea Bothum, the daughter of the late Ivar Algot and Vendla (Ekberg) Petterson was born Oct. 29, 1912, at Karlstad.

She grew to womanhood there, and was graduated from Karlstad High School in 1931. She studied nursing and music in the Twin Cities, and later, graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College.

On June 16, 1938, Judith was united in marriage to Myles Bothum at Karlstad, and the couple has since made their home in Karlstad. Judith taught in several rural schools in the area before beginning teaching career at Karlstad in the early 1950s.

She taught third grade, and also taught piano to many children in the area. She retired from teaching in 1975. She was a member of the Kennedy Homemakers Club and of the Karlstad American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a long-time member of the Eidsvold Lutheran Church.

Judith is survived by her husband, Myles; two sons: Jack (Loretta), and Michael "Mickey", both of Karlstad; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother: Robert Paul Petterson, Karlstad.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Keith, in infancy.

Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aporil 18, 2001, Eidsvold Lutheran Church, Halma.

Interment was at Karlstad Cemetery, Karlstad.

Collins Funeral Home, Karlstad, was in charge of arrangements.
