Robert W. Overend, 79, Hallock, died at his daughter's home in Bloomington, Minn., Dec. 26, 1999.
Robert was born April 27, 1920, at Hallock, the son of Dr. K. V. and Grace (Fowler) Overend.
He attended Hallock Public School and graduated in 1938.
He also attended the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. He worked for three years at Consolidated Aircraft in California and in 1942 joined the U.S. Air Force.
In 1946 he returned to the Hallock area and farmed until 1958 when he became an engineering technician for the Soil Conservation Service in Hallock. He retired in 1988 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Hallock Presbyterian Church, the American Legion and the Minnesota Masons Association.
Surviving are three daughters, Sandy (Richard) Olsonawski, Federal Way, WA, Terry (David) Lamber, Lake Steven, WA, and Peggy (Mark) Propson, Bloomington, MN; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one brother, John (JD), Hallock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Erickson; brother, Tom; and son, Pat, who died March 12, 1998.
Memorial services will be held next spring in the Greenwood Cemetery at Hallock.
Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock was in charge of arrangements.

Jean L. (Overend) Erickson, Portland, OR, passed away at her home Nov. 17, 1992.
She was born Dec. 17, 1914, to Dr. K. V. and Grace Overend in Kennedy. She attended school in Hallock and graduated from high school in 1932.
She graduated from Macalester College and Asbury Hospital, St. Paul, in 1936. She married Robert Erickson Feb. 16, 1940.
She is survived by two children, son Malcolm and daughter Karen Theime, both of Portland, two grandchildren and three brothers: Bob, Hallock; J. D., Naples, FL; and T. F., Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her parents.
