Thief River Falls, Minn. - Cora Ellen Nelson, 81, Thief River Falls, and formerly of Kennedy, died at the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003.

Cory Netteberg was born at Strathcona, Dec. 27, 1921, the daughter of Axel and Carrie (Anderson) Netteberg. She grew in the Strathcona area and attended school there. As a teenager she began working as a cook in Karlstad, and later moved to Grand Forks, and worked at a laundry there.

On June 10, 1946 she married Kermit Nelson at Grand Forks. The couple farmed in New Rockford, until 1950 when they moved to Jupiter Township near Kennedy. They retired from farming in 1983. Kermit died April 18, 1988. Cora has been a resident of Valley Home in Thief River Falls for the past four years.

Family members include a daughter, JoAnn (Royal) Dufault of Warren; two sons, Gene (Ordell) Nelson, Sun City West, Ariz. and Don (Bonnie) Nelson of Roseau; three grandchildren, Todd, Charles and Robin; a great grandchild, Emily; and a sister, Marion Rath, Billings, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Walter, Clarence and Marvin; and two sisters, Della and Alice.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, 2 p.m. in the Evangelical Mission Covenant Church at Kennedy.

Interment was in the Jupiter Mission Cemetery. Rev. Steve Thompson, presiding.

Casket bearers were Merle Nelson, Ron Fossell, Leonel Anderson, Doug Turn, Pete Dziengel and Warren Hauert.

The Adamson-Austin-Hughes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
