Kittson County Historical Society

The Historical Society maintains a microfilm library withmost of the county's newspapers from 1883 through 1973, state census recordsfrom 1885 through 1905, and federal census records from 1880 through 1920.Cemetery records and research books are also available.

The museum exhibit area portrays pioneer life in the early1900's with recreations of a home (kitchen, living room, and bedroom), ageneral store, a barber shop, a shoe repair and a large collection of agriculturalmachinery. Other exhibits capture a sense of local politics, early medicine,and commemorate veterans.

A collection of historical buildings have been moved tothe museum grounds from around the county and restored to their originalluster including a Soo Line depot with caboose and blacksmith's shop, acountry church, a log cabin, a country school, and a paymaster's quarters.

Located on the parkway to Lake Bronson State Park, open7 days a week in summer (including holidays). Free admission, but donationsare accepted.
