Pembina No. Dak. - Art Barron, 59, of Pembina, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 17, 2002, 2 p.m. at the Pembina Lutheran Church, Pembina with the Rev. Reuben Jacobson officiating.

Burial was in the Pembina Cemetery.

Arrangements were with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier.

Arthur F. Barron was born Aug. 27, 1942 at Drayton, the son of Franklyn and June (Middleton) Barron.

He grew up and attended school at Pembina, and graduated from Pembina High School.

Art then attended the University of North Dakota and graduated in 1965. After school he farmed with his father and grandfather.

Art was active in the Pembina community, including the Pembina Lutheran Church, Pembina Fire Department, Pembina Economic Development Committee, Pembina Flood Committee, and the Humboldt-St.Vincent Elevator Board.

On July 29, 1964, he married Judy Mackay at Perley, Minnesota. In October of 2001, they moved to Bemidji.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, daughter, Nancy (Greg) Swanson, Bemidji, two grandsons, Nicholas and Alex Swanson, sister, Karen (Harold) Rene, Jamestown, brothers, James (Diane) Barron, Granite Falls, MN, Jon (Jeanne) Barron, New Brighton, MN, sister-in-law, Barbara Barron, Henderson, Colo., step-mother, Ruth Barron, Fargo.

Art was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Allyn Barron.

Pallbearers were Donald Emerson, Jon Kalka, Pat Misson, Ron Monette, Ken Norby, Bert Simmons, Doug Taylor and Dennis Warner.
