Henry Bakken

DRAYTON, ND. - Henry "Hank" Bakken, 79, Drayton, ND. died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton, ND.

Henry C.Bakken, Jr. was born May 28, 1924 in Northwood, ND. the son of Henry C. and Effie (Bjorait) Bakken.

He joined the Army and served with the 34th Engineering Battalion in Korea, and Army of Occupation in Japan.

In 1950 he was united in marriage to Joy Aaser at Moorhead, Minn. They lived in McVille and Petersburg, ND. before moving to Drayton in 1954 where he owned and operated the Drayton Creamery until his retirement.

Henry was a member of Drayton Lutheran Church, Drayton American Legion Post #159, Kennedy VFW Post #3828, Drayton Curling Club, Drayton Golf Club, Drayton Chamber, and Drayton Improvements.

Henry's tremendous sense of humor, his loving kindness towards others and genuine love for his family and friends will truly be missed.

Family members include his wife Joy of Drayton, ND.; 3 daughters Cheryl Halcrow, Grand Forks, ND.; Caryn Isakson of Forman, ND.; Cynthia (Michael) Gunnarson of Kennedy, Minn; 8 grandchildren Casey, Jill and Daniel Halcrow, Holly and Jeffrey Isakson, and Robert, Marc and Kirsten Gunnarson; and a brother Douglas C. (Mary) Bakken of Grand Forks, ND.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Eilsworth and Wayne, and a nephew Jeff Bakken.

Funeral services were held June 21, 2003 at 11 a.m. in Drayton Lutheran Church at Drayton, ND with Rev. Ben Carlsen officiating.
