Hannah Abrams Potter
1834-1915

Hannah Abrams was born in New York state, Nov. 6, 1834, and was married to William Potter, Jan. 20, 1854, and in April the same year came to Minnesota, settling on a homestead in Eyota Township were they resided.

The past three years, she made her home with her youngest daughter, Mrs. Jessie Bufton, where she peacefully passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 10, aged 80 years, 8 months, and 4 days, after a long illness, having suffered a paralytic stroke last September and was confined to her bed ever since.

There were sixteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was held last Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bufton, Rev. H. I. Pharo of Stewartville, officiating at the service, and at the Eyota M. E. church the following day, Friday, Feb. 12, at 10 o'clock a. m., Rev. C. E. Mead of Pine Island, officiating, and the remains were interred at the Eyota Cemetery.

Mrs. Potter was the oldest settler in Olmsted County and the mother of the oldest child born in the county, now Mrs. Electa Merry, which happened on Nov. 6, 1854.
