Rochester woman, 80 years old dies --
Mrs. Darius Scott Boyd died Sunday at the home of her son, Earl, at the age of 80 following a long illness. Susanna Julia Phelps was born Sept 11, 1851 Benette, WI, and was married to D. Scott Boyd at Friendship WI May 2, 1877. In 1893 they settled on a farm near Genoa and lived there until Mr. Boyd died in 1915. Since then she lived with her children and came to Rochester seven years ago to live with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boyd. In addition to Earl, four sons and one daughter survive. They are Edward and Ernest of St. Paul, Ellis of Willston ND, and Erve of Dodge Center. A daughter, Mrs. Laura Tiessen of St. Paul, also survives with two brothers, Rudolph Phelps of Grand Marsh WI and Henry of Shandon CA. 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. at the Vine Funeral parlors and interment will be in the Pleasant Prairie Cemetery.
