"Concerning those who were residents of Morrison county at the
breaking out of the Spanish-American War in April, 1898, who enlisted at
their country's call, there is but little information now to be had. Indeed there were only a few who were
finally musterd into the United States service. As near as can be learned, the list
included these: Otto VARNER, Will
LAMAY, Harry W. DONOVAN, Chris CHRISTIANSON, Antt.,
Matt and Leo FISHBACK, and Young VIRNIG.
But few of these are still residing in the county at this time (1915),
and several are deceased, including young CHRISTIANSON." [SOURCE: History of Morrison
