Per unpublished 1935 OWEN Genealogy, there are no
records to support existence of Samuel OWEN &
Priscilla BELCHER. Author Henry W. Owen, Jr.
believes that Josiah was the son of Ebenezer OWEN
(William & Elizabeth DAVIES) & Hannah BELCHER (John
& Sarah _?_) of Braintree, MA. Ebenezer d
1690 and widow Hannah m his younger brother
Josiah. Both were then banished from Braintree for
this unpermitted marriage. Josiah, Hannah & Josiah
"Jr." then showed up in Providence, RI. See
