Unfortunately,
the names of all the family members are so similar, we
haven't been able to identify which McCARTHY line is
ours (or not, for that matter). Nor do we know whether the
parent generations (b ca 1800) immigrated as well or stayed
behind in IRL. We believe there was a group of CRONINs,
HURLEYs and McCARTHYs sharing a house in Buffalo,
Erie Co, NY in the 1850 US Census for NY, but haven't yet
taken the time to check for details. |

While
thus far all our direct Irish lines ended up in WI, we've
found collaterals in ME that could have been a part of the
same group of cousins as my WI group. We also think some of
them ended up here in San Joaquin County, California, headed
for the Gold Rush as well.
