I am looking for information about William Bartlett ELWELL,
his wife Lane (?), and his son, Steven Bartlett Elwell. The 1900 U.S.
census shows them living in Freeborn County, Geneva Township. They came
to Minnesota from Iowa sometime after 1883. Steven married Amelia MERKEL
of Story City, IA in Austin on October 28, 1907. He changed his middle
name to Douglas and then emigrated to Canada. The census lists a sister,
May O. GILLOTT and indicates that there are five other siblings not
living with their parents in 1900. I'd be interested in any information
about siblings as well.

SNYDER, Fred & Nettie. In 1881 my grandfather, Fred ENGELHARDT
and his two brothers arrived in Albert Lea,MN county of Freeborn
from Germany. They stayed with cousins, Fred & Nettie Snyder for
one year before going to Washington Territory where they homesteaded
and lived out their lives in Cedonia, WA. In the late
1920's or early 1930's they visited the Engelhardt brothers in
Cedonia, WA then returned to Albert Lea, MN. There seems to be
no further comunications made with them. Are there relatives
still living in Albert Lea? I have pictures but very few names
and am not sure of the spelling of Snyder. Snail mail: 3108 East
Nora, Spokane, WA 99207 Appreciate any help...Thanks!

KARLSKOGA -- Does this name sound familiar to you? Karlskoga is a Swedish
city (32,000 pop.) about half-way between Stockholm and Oslo. More than 5,000
people emigrated from here to America between 1849 (California gold rush) and
1935. Our Heritage Society has an emigration section in its Archives, and
we are steadily working with emigrant research. If you happen to have roots
here, please let us hear from you. You can contact us by e-mail or write to:
Hembygdsforeningen, Torget 10, 691 31 Karlskoga, Sweden.
We will be thrilled to hear the story of your emigrant ancestors and get
copies of obituaries, citizenship papers, travel documents, pictures, etc.
for our emigrant records. In return we are willing to send you material from
our Archives that may be of interest to you.
