Obituary - 1931

Knut Knutson

From Albert Lea Evening Tribune, week of 25 Aug 1931: Knut Knutson was born the 17th of November 1853 and was baptized Jan 1 1854 in Lunder, Norway. When a young boy his parents, Knut and Helene Knutson, with their family, came to America and settled in Calmer, Iowa, where they lived for three years. From there they moved to Rice County, Minn., where he was confirmed by Rev. Kvam. He has always been a member of the Synod church. About 1871 he came to Freeborn County where he lived up to the time of his death. On June 8th, 1892 he united in marriage to Nellie Kittleson. To this union were born six children. He has always enjoyed good health until this summer when he suffered from heat prostration. On July 8th last he was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for 10 days. He improved and returned home where he seemingly continued to improve. But was suddenly taken ill with heart attack on Tuesday Aug 25 about 12 o�clock and death came to relieve him about 1 o�clock. At the time of his death he had reached the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 8 days. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and six children: Elvina (Mrs. Ole Johnson) of Glenville, Minn.; Hattie (Mrs. John Johnson) of Pequot, Minn.; Clarence, William, and Chester, all at home; and Mabel (Mrs. Henry Halverson) of Glenville, Minn. Also 2 sisters and one brother, Mrs. A. Thompson of Glenville, Minn.; Mrs. Lars Rugland of Ross, Minn.; and John Knutson of Glenville, Minn. Survive him. One sister and one brother preceded him in death. Peace be with his memory. Instead of flowers, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Thompson gave a gift of money to missions. Also Our Saviors church Ladies Aid gave a gift to mission in memory of the deceased. The pallbearers were: Hans Dahlen, O. A. Smedal, Albert Ellingson, Ed Oberg, Ed Amundson, Ole Korstad. Interment in Lakewood cemetery.
