MILLERVILLE TOWNSHIP

Millerville Township was established 23 November 1867 by the board of county commissioners in answer to a petition signed by sixteen legal votes from congressional Township 130, Range 39. The first meeting was to be held the home of John Miller, one of the early and prominent settlers, for whom the township was named. Charles Debetzen, who died in St. Cloud, MN in 1906, was one of the early settlers in Millerville Township. He and his family moved to Minnesota from Pennsylvania in 1868, settling in Douglas County. At the time of his death, he had 29 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Peter Boeson donated land for School District #56

According to records located in the Recorder's Office at the Douglas County courthouse, the following individuals were the first owners who received a patent from the U.S. Government on land in Millerville Township. The year noted is the year the patent was recorded; often the individuals had been on the land one or two years prior to recording the patent.
