Dodge County Court House and AnnexConstruction was started in 1865 and completed in 1871 at the cost of $15,000. It was designed by *C. Townshed Mix of Milwaukee and has 40" thick solid limestone walls. It is Minnesota's oldest working court house. The Annex was added on in 1990 to expand the court house to make room for more county and public services. It was built with limestone from Mankato and has a partial skyline roof.According to The Handy Book for Genealogists (7th ed), the Dodge County Clerk of District Court has birth, death, divorce, and civil court records from 1870, marriage records from 1865, probate records from 1858, and school records from 1917.*Michael Koop of the State Historic Preservation Office, Minnesota Historical Society advises me that the correct name of the architect is Edward Townsend Mix (1831-1890). |
