HALVOR OLESON

Halvor Oleson was born in Rock County Wisconsin on November 8, 1844.  His 
parents were Ole and Anna Halvorsen who came to America from Norway in 1842. 
Halvor married Guri Solum in Wisconsin in 1866.  Halvor and Guri were among the 
first settlers in Cass County when they homesteaded 3 miles south of  Pine River 
in 1883. They raised 5 children on their farm: Halvor, Iver, Mikkel, Marthea and 
Torgus. Guri developed heart problems about 1900 and died of a heart attack on 
December 10,1905.  Halvor suffered a stroke and died exactly four years later, 
on December 10, 1909.  They are both buried in the Pine River Cemetery.
