Businessmen of Walker,1922 The Marsh Company, Grand Rapids MN, p.12 OLE NOMEYESTER Walker MN Born February 7, 1878 in Kristiania, Norway. Immigrated to America on the ship "Darius" on July 4, 1891 with his parents Halvor and Signe Nomeyester and four brothers, Johan, Hans, Aslak and Halvor. Grew to manhood in Winnisheik County IA. In 1899, he and his brother came north to work felling timber. He met and married June Calumner. They had six children while living in Akeley. In 1917 they purchased a small house in Walker and Ole opened The Timber Bar. He is a fine dancer and a good Christian man who can be counted on to make regular donations to the church. Submitted by Marcy Carson ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Ole first came to Cass County in 1897 with his brother Johan to work for the lumber company. The brothers returned to Iowa and moved permanently to Cass County the next year. Ole ran the Timber Bar for 25 years, until his death from a heart attack on the morning of July 4, 1943.
