Notes for Amzie (Amasa) Whitenight

Some sources call him Amzi or Amzie, but his gravestone, shown on Find A Grave, shows his name as Amasa. I don't know what's going on, but will use Amzie for now since that's on his death certificate.

Amasa Whitenight was the son of Peter and Mary Whitenight. He married Susan Wanich about 25 June 1864 (date of newspaper announcement). They were parents of John F., Harry, Anna Eunice, Hattie, Albert and Charley. Amasa served in Co. E 132 Reg. PA Volunteers in the Civil War.

The name on his death certificate (obtained from Ancestry.com, "Pennsylvania Death Certificates 1906-1966") is Amzie Whitenight. Cause of death was enteritis, contributory "probably tuberculosis". Place of death was Hemlock Twp., Columbia Co., PA. His parents are listed as Peter Whitenight and Sarah [?] Faus.
