Notes for Claiborne Sandidge



My Southern Family indicates that his name is Claiborne or Clayborne. The DAR database on Ancestry.com has Clayborne. Listed as Claiborne (Clayborn) Sandige in the Martin Sandidge manuscript.

The DAR database indicates that he served in the Revolutionary War under Lafayette, and took part in the battles of Brandywine, Monmouth, Williamsburg, in the defense of Richmond, and was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. Martin Sandidge says that he served three tours in the Revolutionary War from 1780 to 1782; moved from Virginia to Georgia in 1785; and returned to Virginia in 1792. After his marriage, he again returned to Georgia and settled in Elbert Co.
