Notes for Francis Adair Wilson

Birth in Northwestern, CA, is from the Adair Wilson family bible. There doesn't seem to be a town by that name, but then I found that his WWII draft registration (information available on Ancestry.com, image on Fold3.com) also gave his birth place as Northwestern, CA. The mystery was solved by wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northwestern,_California), which says "Northwestern is a former settlement in Mendocino County, California. It was located on the California Western Railroad 3 miles (4.8 km) northwest of Willits." The draft card also confirms that he had a wife named Esther as of 16 Oct 1940. His physical description is given as brown hair, blue eyes, dark complexion. His employer is listed as So. Counties Gas Co. (The 1940 census gives his occupation as book keeper for gas co). Ancestry also has a 1952 directory for Oxnard, CA (U.S. City Directories 1822-1995), with Francis A and Dorothy P Wilson, with him listed as an employee of SCGCo. (Note that Oxnard is in Ventury County.)
