Notes for Otway Curry Reeves
From the Parks manuscript:
Otway C. Reeves married and raised a large family. He died many years ago in Kentucky.
History of Todd County, Kentucky, ed. J. H. Battle, F. A. Battey Publishing Co., 1884, p. 148:
...a third son, Ottaway, was a farmer here for many years. He was said to be a man of fine intellect and good education, but did not in any way, as his brothers had done, seek political notoriety.
Birth in Lincoln County is from Bob Reeves. I don't know if it's right, but maybe Brewer Reeves and family spent some time in Lincoln County before going to Woodford County.
He married and raised a large family. -- WFT 22, 1690
There was a lot of guesswork in putting this family together from census records, beginning with whether the Mary A. Reeves listed in the 1850 census is Otway's widow, and whether she is also the Mary Reeves living with the Bollinger (Bowlinger) family in the 1860 census. There may be mistakes. Bob Reeves initially listed Reuben as a child, but not Martha.
His first name is spelled Otway and Ottaway in different places. A chart by H.F. Hunter Jr. in the Katherine Gentry Bushman Papers, 1961-1997 (Accession 35743, Personal Papers Collection, The Library of Virginia, Richmond, VA) lists him as Henry Ottaway Reeves.
