Notes for Ernest John Malovich

Ernie was a very interesting person. He served in an artillery unit of the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. After the war, he went to college and graduated from the Colorado School of Mines. He worked overseas as a geologist in the oil business (Geophysical Services, Inc.) for many years, including working in Brazil, India, and Australia. He met his wife, Evelyn, through his work, as she was the secretary for the head of the company. Unfortunately, they were unable to have children. He was very generous, providing much help to family members, including cousins, nieces, nephews, and relatives back in Croatia. He treated his aunt and cousin, Betty and Dorothy Wilson, to a round-the-world trip. After moving back to the U.S. in the late 1960s, he started a business drilling water wells in a mountain community near Golden, CO. After retiring from that business, he moved into the city, to Englewood and then to Littleton: suburbs of Denver, CO. Ernie loved to gamble, though he never overdid it. When his Aunt Betty was still well enough, he would take her to Las Vegas, NV, occasionally. He was playing poker at the Black Hawk Lodge casino near Denver when he died of a heart attack.
