Mrs. Alma Lange Religious Services Held February 16
Religious services for Mrs. Alma Lange, of Karnes City, were held Wednesday morning, February 16, at 10 o'clock in the chapel of Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City.
The Rev. Kenneth Richards, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, was officiating minister. He read II Timothy 4:7-8, and paid a tribute to the life of the deceased. The hymns, "In the Garden" and "Sweet By and By" were sung.
Burial was in Karnes City Cemetery. Arrangements were by Rhodes Funeral Home, of Karnes City.
Pallbearers were Arnold Hofmann, Leo B. Green, Wayne H. Bowmann, Joe E. Hull, Charles Lange and Robert Lange.
Alma Katheran Sommerlate Lange was born November 25, 1881, the daughter of the late Fritz and Johanna Kohlm Sommerlate in Frelsburg, Colorado County, Texas, and died February 15, 1972 in Colonial Hills Nursing Home in Karnes City, Texas. She was 90 years, two months and 20 days of age.
She was baptized in Frelsburg as an infant on December 29, 1882, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Beeville, Texas.
On July 2, 1901 she was united in marriage to Fritz Lange in Frelsburg. They lived in Columbus, Texas, about 10 years, and then moved to Runge in 1914. They moved to Karnes City in 1916 where she lived the rest of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter and step daughter.
She was a member of Sister Lodge, Order Sons of Hermann, No. 107.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ella Wernli and Mrs. Mary Jane Green, both of San Antonio, Mrs. Bertha Hofmann and Mrs. Elise Fenner, both of Karnes City;
Three sons, Charlie Lange, of Houston, Alfred Lange, of Burkburnett, and August Lange, of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
The name on her death certificate is Alma Katheran Lange. Cause of death was cardiac arrest. She died at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. Parents' names listed as Fritz Sommerlate and Johanna Kohlm.
