By 1908, Vicksburgs old school building on Maple Street was bursting at the seams, and it was decided to look for a site for a newer and larger building. A site on Kalamazoo Avenue
was chosen and village residents voted to approve the construction of a new
school, not to exceed $25,000 in cost. Construction was finished in 1909. This
building served as an elementary, junior high and high school until 1952 when a
separate building was built for use as a high school on Highway street.
Vicksburg Community Schools currently uses the structure as an administration
building. |
