Also - be sure to check out the St. Clair County Cemeteries at Find-A-Grave

Find-A-Grave started out with a few records here and there of more recent burials, and was limited to those in the United States. However, over the past several years it has grown exponentially and now includes records for other countries, with many genealogically-minded folks adding literally tens of thousands of records, as well as photographs of head stones, on a regular basis. Among those added are the St. Clair County cemeteries, so be sure to check it out! A wonderful feature of Find-A-Grave is that there are many volunteers who will attempt to get photographs of head stones in places others are unable to visit. It's a simple matter to input a request. Find-A-Grave also contains location information, as well as a Google Map, for most, if not all, cemeteries listed there.

You Can Help by adding your records and photographs to Find-A-Grave.

Dear Ancestor

Your tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished marble stone.

It reaches out to all who care,
it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist.
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you,
in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse,
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor,

The place you filled one hundred years ago,
spreads out among the ones you left,
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you knew
that someday I would find this spot,
and come to visit you.
